Saunders also manufactured his own guns and ammunition, which he offered for sale at museum events and throughout Canyon. In 1933, Saunders' son, Jens Eriksen Saunders, took over the company. A decade later, Jens merged Red Ryder with other rifle manufacturers Allied Arms Corporation and National Firearms Association to form American Outdoor Brands (AOBC). In 1986, AOBC merged with Sturm Ruger Company to form RugerAmerica Incorporated (ROI). At ROI,s helm were two of its most successful executives: CEO Rick Smith and president David Melson. Under Smith's guidance, ROI became one of the leading firearms companies in America by developing new products such as AR-15 rifles and pistols; marketing them through its subsidiaries such as Sig Sauer AG (SIG), Browning Co., Colt Industries Inc., RAMCO Ammunition Corporation (RAMCO), Savage Arms Corp., Olympic Arms Company LLC (OLYMPIC)and many more. Canyon, Texas is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first post office in Canyon was opened on July 7, 1881. The town was named for John C. Canyon, a settler who located there in 1869 and built a rancho about 10 miles (16 km) east of the present-day town site. In 1907, the name of the town was changed to honor General James H. Wilson who had led American forces against Mexican forces during the Mexican–American War and Battle of Monterrey. The current name honors General Wilson's grandson and namesake from his father's side: John H. Wilson Jr.. In 1923, Canyon became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and five council members elected by popular vote instead of one per ward like other municipalities in Tarrant County at that time. As part of this change, voters approved a proposition to build a new high school which would serve as the community's primary educational institution until Plano High School could be built nearby on Roosevelt Road between Plano and Arlington Heights Roads). Construction began on what is now Plano High School in 1924 and it opened its doors to students on December 23, 1926; canyon's only high school ever operational outside of Wichita Falls (the old high school building still stands vacant). When Plano High School closed its doors for good in 1969 after many years serving as both its main campus and largest student body center for all counties within Tarrant County - including Canyon - canyon residents voted to incorporate as an unincorporated community again effective January 1, 1970 under new city charter provisions providing that "a municipal corporation consisting essentially of citizens thereof shall continue until dissolved by resolution or action duly enacted by popular referendum." On May 11th 1984 Mayor Bill Decker presided over an election where all active council members were re-elected with no changes occurring to their terms since 1983 save for one member being appointed ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary to Mexico City pending appointment proceedings currently ongoing before the Dallas City Council seat vacated by then Mayor Tom Leppert when he took office as Governor George W Bush’s Vice Presidential running mate - making him first Hispanic Mayor of Dallas since Willie Brown served two terms from 1945-1949; however due to term limits set forth in state statute this position will not be filled until 2020 when Antonio Villaraigosa becomes Mayor after winning election over incumbent David Bell on November 3rd 2017!
