It was a small family-owned business that supplied quality coffee to local businesses and individuals. The Pembertons Coffee Company quickly became known for their unique flavor profiles and quality products. They were among the first companies to develop and sell espresso drinks in stores across America. In 1922, they merged with another small business, The Grosse Pointe Coffee Company, to form The Grosse Pointe Coffee & Tea Corporation (GCTC). The company continued to produce high-quality beans until it closed its doors in 1984. Today, there are several legacy artisans who continue to provide top-notch coffee experiences throughout Texas. The history of artisan coffee in Carrollton, Texas goes back to the early 1800s. Coffee beans were first grown and smoked in the region by farmers and ranchers. Over time, different methods of roasting and marketing coffee became more common, eventually leading to the growth of small businesses that continue to produce high-quality beans today.
Carrollton is a town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,845 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tarrant County. The first settlers in Carrollton were Methodist missionaries from Tennessee who arrived in 1851. They built a sawmill and gristmill on the north side of the creek that later became known as White Sands Creek. In 1865, General Sam Houston bought land near present-day Carrollton and named it for himself, after victory at San Jacinto which secured his place in history as one of Texas' historical leaders. In 1881, J.W. Morehead founded a grocery store and general mercantile business on what is now Elm Street just east of Railroad Avenue. The store prospered until 1901 when fire destroyed most of the buildings including the grocery store and some residential homes. Today you can still see evidence of Morehead's business activities such as an old warehouse building still standing on Elm Street next to Interstate 20A/20B south of town

Coffee bean growers and brewers have been a part of this process since before coffee became a popular drink. The early coffee farmers who grew beans on small farms would often roast their own beans and blended them with other coffees to create unique blends. This tradition continued into the late 1800s when larger mills began to produce more standardized beans. However, small-scale roasters continued to exist until the early 2000s, when larger companies took over most of the market for artisanal coffee. At that point, it was difficult for smaller roasters to keep up with the large companies’ production levels and prices. However, there are still many small-scale roasters operating today that provide some of the best cup of Joe around. These businesses use their own expertise and skills to produce delicious cups of coffee at an affordable pricepoint. From start-ups to veterans in the industry, there is a lot of creativity and innovation happening within artisanal coffee as we move forward.

However, during World War II Carrollton came under attack from Japanese forces; after the war, its residents struggled to rebuild their economy following the arrival of new immigrants. After years of decline, however, Carrollton began to experience significant growth in the late 1990s and 2000s as it became increasingly accessible via transportation links such as Interstate 10. Today, Carrollton is an expanding commercial center with several high-rise apartment buildings and a thriving downtown business district.
Carrollton was founded in 1836 by James Carroll and his brother, John. The first post office was established in 1840. In 1846, Carrollton became the county seat of Dallas County. In 1870, the Texas Railroad Company built a line from Fort Worth to Carrollton. The railroad made Carrollton an important town and helped spur economic development in the area. In 1914, the United States Code was amended to add Section 101 (a) which stated that "all males over 21 years of age who are citizens or residents of this country [the United States] may be naturalized as American citizens." This gave birth to the concept of Americanization which has been a mainstay of Carrollton's economy ever since.
