Cedar Hill is a small town in Limestone County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,098 at the 2010 census. Cedar Hill is located on the eastern edge of Limestone County and on the banks of the Arkansas River. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The oldest settler in Cedar Hill was John Latham who arrived in 1836. Other early settlers included George Hines and brother-in-law Samuel Snively. In 1853, Haney Fenton purchased land from James Abert and laid out a town square with a church and schoolhouse on it. Fenton named his new community Cedar Hill after his old home town in Ireland. In 1870, David White settled in Cedar Hills; he built a toll road to connect his ranch with Houston via Cedar Creek. white also founded an agricultural society which grew corn, cotton, peanuts, wheat and other crops until 1907 when railroads came through the community cutting off its farming potential completely. Cedar Hill experienced its heyday during World War I when many residents enlisted in the military for service abroad; many others joined local businesses such as meatpacking plants or oil refineries catering to munitions manufacturers across nation wide wartime production shortages that persisted until well into the postwar period In later years there have been few residential developments other than some stores and apartments built around Interstate 35 since most people have moved away or retired . There are still several churches (St John’s Episcopal Church being one) sitting vacant next to Interstate 35 due to lack of interest among developers or those purchasing property nearby

Cedar Hill is a small town in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Cedar Hill is part of the Austin metropolitan area. The town began as a rancho on the east side of Cedar Creek. It grew rapidly after the Civil War when settlers arrived from Tennessee and Kentucky to farm near what would become Cedar Hill. The first post office was founded in 1876, and by 1880, Cedar Hills had a population of 350 people. In 1902, ownership of the Rancho Rinconada passed from one family to another; this led to increased growth for Cedar Hill as new families moved into the area. By 1912, there were 2,500 residents living in Cedar Hills. In 1932-1933, during Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt's presidency and his New Deal program known as "The Great Depression," much emphasis was put on creating jobs and stimulating economic development in order to combat recessionary conditions that were widespread throughout America at that time A bill was passed through Congress providing financial assistance for rural areas such as those in McLennan County which were struggling during the Great Depression; this helped spur development within Cedar Hill and other rural communities across Texas during that time period In 1942-1945 World War II saw great demand for lumber due to war efforts; this led to an increase in business activity within CedarHill and other rural communities across Texas During World War II many citizens enlisted in service; many men from CedarHill served aboard USS Pueblo (LHD 3), USS Rio Grande (LHD 4) or USS Riverside (PGL 6).
