Cedar Hill is a small town in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,837 as of the 2010 census. Cedar Hill is located in the center of the county and is bordered by the towns of McKinney to the north and Carrollton to the east. To its south are Elm Fork Creek and White Oak Creek. The first settlers in this area were white men who came from Kentucky in 1853. They named their land Cedar Hill after one of their native hills in that state. In 1858, a post office was established at Cedar Hill, and mail was delivered there until 1958. The first school in Cedar Hill was built on Main Street in 1875. That building still stands and is used as a community hall today. In 1902, Cedar Hill became an independent municipality within McLennan County with its own government and police department. This separation from McLennan County continued until 1907 when it rejoined McLennan County under a new constitution that had been passed by referendum vote. In 1921, Cedar Hill received annexation by McKinney which made it an official city within McKinney County for all purposes save for local elections which continue to be held at least every four years even though CedarHill has no governing body other than City Council members elected directly by residents! In 1931, oil exploration began near Eagle Ford National Park making this area very important for Refining companies looking for petroleum resources! As production increased throughout the 1930s and 1940s, more people moved into this area including many farmers who had bought up supplies from refiners during those years! By 1960 there were over 10,000 people living in Cedar Hill! As construction began on I-10 through here during the late 1960s/early 1970s various businesses went out of business such as lumberyards along Elm Fork Road because of high competition fromtexas A&M University students studying engineering at nearby Angelo State University; however these days much smaller businesses line Elm Fork Road between FM 1406 (exit 191) & FM 1736 (exit 208). However some old cedar hill landmarks like "The Old Mill" still stand today

Cedar Hill is a town in Limestone County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,895 at the 2010 census. Cedar Hill is located on the banks of Cedar Creek. The first settler in Cedar Hill was James Ahern who arrived in 1836. The post office was established in 1838, and the name of the town was changed to Cedar Rapids in 1845. In 1860, Amos Hilsted settled here and started a cotton gin. When the Civil War began, Cedar Hill served as a Union garrison until it surrendered on April 9 1865. After the war ended, many small businesses were founded here such as Mr. Waco's grocery store which continued to be open into the 20th century. In 1932, Henry Ford built his first car dealership in Cedar Hills and that remains an important part of this community’s history today. The Lower Reaches agricultural district is still home to some of the largest cotton fields outside of Mississippi or Alabama today because these farmers have been able to keep their land by growing corn and other crops while also manufacturing products like automobiles and tires here at nearby Willowbrook plants since they opened in 1915-1916
