Cedar Hill is a small town located in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,824 at the 2010 census. The Cedar Hill Post Office opened in 1901 and closed in 2006. Cedar Hill is part of the Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area around Cedar Hill was first settled by the Kinner family in 1851. In 1856, John Casterton constructed a log cabin on what is now Elm Street near present day Old Town Streetside Park. In 1861, Jacob Kinner moved to Cedar Hill from San Antonio and built a log cabin on what is now Elm Street and Main Street. By 1865, all of the settlers had arrived and founded Cedar Hill Village which included a schoolhouse, Methodist church, blacksmith shop and post office. In 1902, Virden Fenton donated land to build thecurrent courthouse complex which includes an auditorium/theater as well as several buildings used for government functions such as the jail and election headquarters (now known as State Capitol). A public square also exists on this property today where people can picnic or walk their dog during summertime. The first post office in Cedar Hill was established on December 3rd , 1901 under name of "New Hope". It operated for one year before it was renamed "Cedar Hills" due to objections from other towns within Tarrant County about being called "New Hope". On October 9th 1907 the post office reopened with its current name after re-opening efforts by then Postmaster General JB Cramer who took over from his predecessor WF Hargrave . On January 1st 1915 mail service between New Hope and Cedar Hill ceased because of World War I restrictions; however, mail continued to be transported between these two towns until July 8th 1921 when all regular mail services were discontinued due to budget cuts affecting both communities at that time. A new telephone line connecting Newton (northwest of Fort Worth) with CedarHill became operational on April 12th 1925 using technology provided by AT&T Corporation with connection speeds up to 350 feet per second! This new phone line allowed residents of Newton access to quality phone service while they shopped or worked in our town center! Today’s Verizon Wireless customer service can be found northwest of downtownFort Worth across White Flint Road just past TX 535E off FM 1792L . From here you can call them “Verizon” just like your local Comcast or Time Warner Cable customer does! The old white Claymore Telephone Company building still stands today across White Flint Road south of US 75 east of Interstate 15 serving primarily commercial customers since deregulation ended many years ago! Today's economy relies heavily upon agriculture which accounted for over 60% ($27 million)of total economic output reported by Tarrant County during calendar year 2009 according to Texas Department Of Economic Development data released February 10th2010 .
