The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History is a long and detailed history of Marines in Cibolo, Texas. The Corps has been in the town since 1898, and it has always had a presence. The first Marines arrived in Cibolo on November 8th, 1898. They were part of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines Regiment which was attached to the 4th Marine Brigade Combat Team (1st Marine Division). This brigade was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. In 1951, the battalion became known as 3rd Battalion 7th Marines and was assigned to 2nd Marine Division at Camp Pendleton. In 1957, they became 4th Battalion 7th Marines again and were assigned to 1st Marine Division at Okinawa before returning to Texas in 1959. Their unit served with distinction during World War II including participating in combat against Japan’s Imperial Japanese Army forces along the China-Burma-India theater of operations. After the war they relocated to San Diego where they became 3rd Battalion 6th Marines until theiractivation as a Training Unit for Officers Candidate School (OCS) on December 15, 1964 at Quantico Navy Yard before deployment aboard USS Yorktown (CVN-65) for duty during Vietnam War from October 1966 through April 1968 when they returned home stationing at Naval Air Station North Island (NAVY island YO-13). Upon their return home they reorganized themselves into 3rd/7thMarines Detachment 902(RM), an amphibious assault marine detachment that deployed aboard USS Iwo Jima (CVN-9) during Operation Neptune Spear on February 26 – March 102001 Since then there have been numerous deployments including service members being killed while serving or wounded while deployed; however every deployment brings new opportunities for growth within the Corpsmen of Cibolo who are committed to serving our country authoritatively and lawfully wherever located around the world.

Cibolo is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Cibolo's motto is "The Friendly Village." The town began as a post office on January 17, 1884. In 1888, the first school opened in Cibolo. A railroad depot was built in 1907 and served as the town's central business district until it burned down in 1942. In 1954, Cibolo became an independent municipality when it split from Hudspeth County. At that time, its population was 3,421 and it had a total area of . In 1984, the town annexed portions of East Plano and Friendswood to form a new city with a population of over 100,000 people. The annexation has since been terminated and both cities are now separate towns within Hudspeth County again; however they maintain some degree of communication and cooperation through various joint events such as trade shows and community festivals. Cibolo is a small, rural town in Ellis County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area. Cibolo was founded in 1872 by John M. Sprague and his wife Sarah A. Sprague as a small agricultural village on the banks of the river Cibolo Creek. At that time it consisted of only twenty homes and three churches. In 1865, Theodore Roosevelt visited Cibolo while he was campaigning for president and made an impact on its growth. He helped to finance the construction of a bridge over the river which connected Cibolo with Arlington Heights in Dallas suburb of Richardson. After Roosevelts death in 1912, local officials decided to rename the town after him instead of continuing with their original name suggestion from President Woodrow Wilson two years earlier – Eminent Domain (euphemism for public land acquisition). As a result, Ciboli became Mr. Roosevelt's hometown on April 15th 1914 when it was formally designated "Teddy Roosevelt Boulevard" in his honor by then-Mayor Waddell Gibbs In 1927 Hemanus Ford bought 1/2 section of what would become Sprague Township from John MennenSprague (the father) for $10 per acre He had come west to ranch land that he had purchased near present day Milpitas California Ford started farming there until 1924 when he built his first house That year also saw rancher Harry Laughlin arrive from Canada with his herd of cows grazing on land adjacent to Sprague Creek Laughlin hoped that he could make some money off this new land by raising beef cattle
The early settlers on the Cibolo Creek region of Texas were primarily Spanish-speaking Mestizos. The area that is now Cibolo County was first inhabited by the Wichita and Apache Indians. In 1835, Mexican forces invaded Texas and after a brief battle near San Antonio, Mexico ceded the area to the United States. The U.S. set up a military post in what is now Cibolo County and began to attract American settlers. By 1840, there were over 100 Anglo-American families living in what is now Cibolo County. The railroad arrived in 1881 and caused increased population growth in the county as people came to work on the railway.
