The Cleburne Gun Show is a yearly event that takes place in the town of Cleburne, Texas. It began in 1966 and is now one of the largest gun shows in the area. The show features a variety of firearms, ammo, and accessories from all over the world. It also has an exhibition hall where vendors can display their products. The Cleburne Gun Club was organized in 1901. The club kept a pistol collection until the early 1920s. In 1923, the club initiated a policy of giving out shotguns for members to shoot at various local championships. From then on, shotguns were distributed as gifts to members.
Cleburne, Texas is a city in southern Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 6,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name derives from Creek Indian settlement of the same name in 1835. The first settler in Cleburne was James A. Smith in 1837. In 1859, John Denton arrived and platted what would become the city on May 20, 1860. He named it for James A. Cleburne (1814-1878), a Union general during the American Civil War who had died two years earlier while fighting for the Confederacy under General Robert E Hood at Hancock River Bridge near Chattanooga, Tennessee. Cleburne did not gain its town charter until March 1, 1865 due to lack of support from citizens$. On December 15 of that year by order of President Andrew Johnson it became a municipal corporation with full powers under Texas law to levy taxes and borrow money to build schools and other public works necessary for development as an incorporated municipality

Cleburne is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land for Cleburne was granted to the community by the Mexican government in 1836 as part of Rancho San Marcos de la Luna. The name "Cleburne" means "hollows in a ridge". In 1881, a post office called Clearwater was established in what is now Cleburne. A year later, it changed its name to Cleburne after General Santa Anna's forces besieged Fort Davis on the Brazos River. In 1885, Clearwater became an independent municipality and incorporated as Cleburne. Cleburne grew rapidly during Reconstruction and experienced rapid growth following World War II when the military invested in new technology and businesses such as plastics production and aircraft manufacturing. By 1970, the population had reached 2,000 with many of those residents coming from rural areas surrounding Houston. When Johnson County was created in 1907 from parts of Hidalgo County (later Travis County), much of what would become Cleburne lay within Hidalgo County limits but portions were transferred to Johnson County including much of present-day Cleburne east of I-10 and north of US Highway 183 which ran through downtown Clearwater before turning west into Austin center whence it continued northeasterly until reaching its current southern terminus at FM 620 about 11 miles northwest of Austin near I-35W exit 403 just southwest of Lake Travis National Wildlife Refuge headquarters on US Highway 183northwest corner with FM 2446 southwesterly boundary), most significantly including all or nearly all present day parts east/northeastof I-10 within JohnsonCounty boundaries; also included parts lying west/southwestof FM 2446 & US Highway 183 excepting that portion lying east/northeastO'Donnell Road then extending easterly approximately 12 miles soon after enter ingJohnsonCoity thence continuing westerly along O'Donnell Road generally until reaching clear Creek Valley where it join streams flowing into Cedar Creek thence flows easterley becoming Clear Creek Valley less immediately
Cleburne was founded in 1836 by James Cleburne and his wife Elizabeth. The town became a center of trade and industry for the surrounding area, thanks to its location close to theArkansas River. In 1881, the town was renamed Cleburne County after James C. Cleburne, Jr., one of its founders.
