Gourmet Coffee first came to Clute in the early 1900s. There was a small grocery store on the corner of State and Elm that served coffee. The first coffee shop in Clute, called the Dutchman, opened its doors in 1912. The first coffee shop in Clute, Texas opened its doors in 1912. It was called The Coffee Shop and it served coffee and hot dogs. In the 1940s, the shop moved to its current location on Elm Street and continued serving coffee until 1978.
Clute is a town in Hays County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,816 at the 2010 census. Clute is part of the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Clute was John Ewart Burt who lived on a grant from the Republic of Texas in 1836. He and his family built their house near present day Elm Street and Main Street about 1837-38. A post office called Burtville was established in 1839, but it did not remain open long because there were already two other posts within Hays County with that name - one in Wichita Falls and one at Big Creek. In 1840, Wm. Ladd located a log cabin on the neck of land between Cedar Creek and Elm Street about four miles east of present day Clute. The first store in Clute was opened by Wm as Ladd's Store on Main Street on October 17, 1840. It served as a stopping place for travelers coming down the Kansas River to Wichita Falls or Fort Worth. In 1849, Wm sold his store to Jno Cone and operated it until 1862 when he moved his business across the street to what is now First Avenue South (now downtown Wichita). On July 10, 1861 Presbyterian Reverend Valentine Goodlett organized a church congregation at what is now Old High School which met for service every morning from 7:00 am to 8:30 am before going into business for themselves during lunchtime then returning home for dinner after services; this congregation became known as Goodlett's Chapel or simply Chapel (later renamed First Baptist Church). Goodlett died soon after organizing the church so Education Committee member George Fenton took over leadership of chapel affairs and started classes January 15th 1865 which lasted until December 1865 when school closed due to Union occupation of southern Texan towns while Texans fought against Northern troops under US General Ulysses S Grant throughout most of 1865 & 6 grasshoppers! In 1870 Charles Ellis founded Cotton gin #1 northeast of today's intersection of Elm & Walnut Streets with twenty-five workers operating it; this gin produced up to seventy pounds per hourutes cotton cloth which made Clute very prosperous during those years prior to World War I when cotton prices plummeted due to increased competition from synthetic fiber products developed in Europe by companies such as DuPont Pioneer Hi-Tec plc., Transvaal Rubber Company Ltd., Bayer AG & others!!! There are several stories surrounding howClute got its name; some say that it originated when Captain James Aulds landed his boat "Clueless" here circa 1847 looking for new water sources for cattle; another story says that local farmers found clumps of coal near Clear Fork Spring where they named their creek "Cline". Whatever its origin may be, locals stuck with it until 1912 when they decided upon adopting an unofficial motto according to one account - "Meekness hath its own charms." A post office called Clune was established at this location on August 29th 1914 but failed to open because mail sent through nearby Wichita Falls went unclaimed! In 1916 Andrew White purchased land northeast of today's intersection Elm & Walnut Streets which he named White Settlement after himself and erected a log cabin thereon becoming our first resident mayor! Andrew White also donated $5 toward building a schoolhouse adjacent thereto pursuant law §171(a) commonly referred to as 'the white hall pledge'. This donation allowed construction thereof commencing September 1915 thereby creating our high school herein having outseting Fall 1916!!! It should be noted that many residents originally from Sumner County although living within easy walking distance had opted notto move here once hostilities commenced knowing full well we would still be targeted by Federal forces being stationed primarily along Interstate 35W including Ft Worth/Wichita Falls area!!!!!During WWII much activity occurred centered around Ft Worth particularly around Porter Air Force Basecomplex akaFort Worth Army Airfield complex including various barracks barracks housing squadrons fighter jets etc... additional residences were built subsequent thereto such asWhite Sands Missile Range Complex situated immediately adjacent our high school perimeter!! resultant growth over time has resulted in numerous businesses existing within extant limits currently??? approximately 54 acres +/- !! viz!!!! whitehallhighschool

However, some general points about coffee may be useful: 1) Coffee beans were first roasted and ground in the Middle East in the 6th century BC. 2) The first recorded coffee use from North America was by the Spanish in 1541. 3) The Dutch began importing coffee into Europe in the 16th century, and it became an important part of Dutch culture. 4) Coffee became an important commodity in India after tea was introduced there in the 17th century. 5) The Russian Empire began to import coffee beans from Arabia during the 18th century, making it one of Russia's most significant exports. 6) Coffee started being exported to new countries such as Argentina and Brazil during the 19th century. 7) Coffee production continued to increase through World War II, until it peaked in 1960 (when more than two billion cups of coffee were produced).

Clute, Texas is located in the Midland region of the United States. The town was founded by John Clute in 1881 and named for him. It has a population of about 20,000 people and is the largest community in McLennan County. The town is home to the McLennan County Courthouse and Justice Center, as well as a library, public works department, post office, school system, and several businesses. The history of Clute began with its founding by John Clute. He came to this area from Kentucky in 1881 and started a small grocery store in what is now known as the Village at Clute. In 1886, he opened a general store which became the first business in what is now McLennan County. In 1912, he built a frame house on Main Street which still stands today. The house was used as a courthouse until it was replaced by the current building in 1984. A year later, Clute donated land to build an Agricultural School which still operates today. The Agricultural School was founded in 1916 and has since been used for many different purposes including teaching children agriculture and ranching skills. In 1928, Johnathan Witherspoon bought out John Clutes share of the business so that Witherspoon could start his own grocery store called Witherspoon's Grocery Store at 4th Street and Main Street which quickly became one of McLennan Countys most successful stores. In 1938-39, local residents formed the "Cluthers' Association" to support their favorite provisions from then-Governor Sam Rayburns State Farm program - corn dogs (known locally as "Raggedy Ann", "Gone West", or simply "Snickers"), butterbeans (known locally as "Kidney Beans"), fresh eggs (known locally as "Egg McMuffins"), pasteurized milk (known originally as pure cream), Mutual Fire Insurance Company premiums (now known commercially through Farmers Insurance Company), cottonseed oil (now known commercially through Mercers Oil Co.), soapmaking detergents (((Household Detergent)), candy bars made with peanut butter instead of sugar (now known commonly through Milky Way Candy Bar fame), cut flowers during state fairs such as carnival time) This group pooled its money together over several months to buy goods for distribution at state fairs throughout Texas For many years after World War II ended there were few other sources for goods available outside of state government agencies or farm products
Clute, Texas was founded in 1881 by James W. Clute and John R. Cook. The town was named for General James W. Clute, who had been a brigadier general during the American Civil War and had served as the military governor of Texas. The first post office at Clute was established in 1883, and the population of the town grew rapidly from its initial settlers to over 1,000 by 1907. In 1916, Clute became an independent city and remained so until it merged with Plano in 1967.
