The USS Constitution was a United States Navy ship that served in the Spanish-American War and World War I. She was sunk by a German U-boat in 1917. In Coppell, Texas, the USS Constitution was donated to the city by Rear Admiral J.F. Smith on July 8, 1922. The ship's commissioning occurred on October 14, 1922 at Naval Base San Diego. On May 12, 1923, she sailed from her homeport of San Diego for Key West where she took part in maneuvers with the First Fleet of America before sailing for Guantanamo Bay Cuba on October 10th of that year to participate in operations against revolutionary forces there. She reached Havana on November 5th and stayed there until December 20th when she departed for Puerto Rico to take part in operations against rebel forces there before reaching Santiago de Cuba on January 4th 1924 and lasting until February 24th when she arrived back at Guantánamo Bay and decommissioned thereon. She then returned to San Diego where she remained until retired May 15, 1951 as USS Constitution (LPH 3)AA
Coppell is a small town in Fayette County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community began as a cattle ranch and farming settlement in 1869. By 1900 Coppell had about 100 residents and was lying on the banks of the Brazos River. A post office was established there in 1872, and by 1907 it had grown to 9 mailboxes and 20 inhabitants. In 1914, Coppell had a school with 14 pupils and two teachers; by 1925 it boasted a high school with 30 pupils and four teachers. In 1935 Coppell's first store opened, also its only one until 1978 when an addition became available for use as a library annex; by 1969 it had five stores, three restaurants (one fire-and-smoke), one bank (First National Bank) and six homes. In 1970 Coppell's population topped 1,000 for the first time; since then its population has steadily declined while its economy has thrived thanks to agriculture, construction services, retail trade and tourism

Coppell, Texas is a small city located in the southeastern part of Texas, about 25 miles east of Austin. The population was 9,813 at the 2010 census. It is commonly considered to be within the Austin-the-Greater-Houston metropolitan area. In 1876, entrepreneur and legislator James M. Coppell founded what would become Coppell as a small community on the banks of Buffalo Bayou in what is now downtown Austin. In 1887, Coppell became one of the first towns in Texas to issue its own currency - the $1 dollar note was created by coining silver coins from lead ore mined in nearby Anaconda and other local mines. The $1 notes were also used for goods and services tax payments until 1903 when they were replaced by bank notes that could be used anywhere statewide. The James M. Coppell Library & Museum was built on Beaux Arts Boulevard adjacent to Yesler Park in 1948 as one of only two libraries west of Dallas that received grant money from then-President Harry S Truman’s American Recovery Foundation (ARF). The library moved into its current location on Guadalupe Street between Lamar and Congress streets in 1974 after serving asAustin’s main library for more than 50 years. Since downtown Austin rebranded itself “The City Beautiful” following Hurricane Harvey damage in 2017, many businesses have relocated out of downtown into areas such as Comanche Pass or Northside 360 degrees around Main Street which still retains much historical significance due to its close proximity to both University District campuses and Barton Springs Lakefront park
