The first coffee beans were grown in Copperas Cove, Texas in the early 1800s. The name "copperas cove" is derived from Spanish meaning "a place where you can find salt water." The town was founded by Indians and the first European residents were Spanish settlers who named the area San Antonio de los Caballeros. The first coffeehouses opened in the early 1800s and these stores sold coffee to local farmers and merchants. In 1851, a group of Dutch settlers arrived in Copperas Cove and started a grocery store. They soon became known as the pioneers of this community. The Dutch lived onshore until they moved to Holland in 1881. In 1904, coppermining began in Copperas Cove and this led to an increase in business activity. This also led to the construction of a number of homes and businesses including a hotel, post office, school, church, newspaper office, cotton ginnery, brewery and several factories. In 1916-17 A&P groceries moved into town from Dallas and continued its operation until it closed down in 1984. Today there are several small businesses that operate within the town limits including restauraunts such as Maga Coffee & Cafe which has been open since 1978; Joe's Pizza - which opened its doors on May 1st 1959; Maga's Dairy - which opened its doors on July 15th 1961; Miner's Den - which opened its doors on December 14th 1962; Sloppy Joe's Java House - whichopened its doors on October 6th 1966; BBQ Depot - whichopened its doors on October 3rd 1977; Mrs.'s Cookies & Coffee -whichopened theirdoorson August 16th 1982

Copperas Cove is part of the Bastrop-Bryan-College Station, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. It lies on the Gulf of Mexico about 25 miles northeast of College Station and just north of Houston. The name "Copperas Cove" comes from Spanish meaning "the place where copper is found." The first European to discover copper in this area was Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in 1542. Copper mining started soon after and today it remains an important industry in the community. Today, Copperas Cove has many restaurants, retail stores, and other businesses that contribute to its strong economy. The primary source of income for the town comes from its commercial fishing industry which contributes around $5 million per year to the local economy. This sector also provides jobs for locals as well as some export sales opportunities for goods exported to Latin America and Asia. The lifestyles of locals are closely intertwined with their love of fishing and nature itself - both are popular themes throughout the community's history and culture. There are several annual festivals that take place throughout the summeragns includingCinco de Mayo (May 5th), July 4th barbecue shootout (July 3rd), Corpus Christi Day parade ( November 8th) and Mayfly Festival (March 21st). In 1825, Francisco de Paula Maga decided to move his coffee plantation over 200 miles from the city of Madrid to a more rural setting in the province of Burgos. This change led to increased production and demand for maga coffee, which became an important part of Spanish culture. In 1903,maga coffee was placed within the French trade mark Gourmandise & Coffee Company. The company produced maga coffee until its closure in 1996. Today, maga coffee is still enjoyed by many Spaniards as a popular ceremonial drink.

Copperas Cove is a small town in southeastern McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 576 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Copperas Cove was founded by Nicholas Mudie in 1879 and named for the cove near where he built his cabin. The first post office in Copperas Cove was established in 1881, and it served as the junction of two wagon trails that crossed the Trinity River at this location. In 1886, Charles Ewart built a home on a bluff overlooking Copperas Cove and named it Ewart House after himself and his brother-in-law George Wernham (1836–1909). By 1890, coppermining had become an important aspect of life in Copperas Cove, with several large tin smelters located along the Trinity River. In 1916, oil exploration began near Copperas Cove by Standard Oil Company employees Will Hutton and Walter Pickenburgh. After several months of exploration by local officials and Texans John Denton (1875–1965), James Clements (1887–1975), JB Priestly (1896–1970) and other interested parties, Standard Oil abandoned its efforts to develop oil resources at Copperas Cove because of increased competition from Texaco Inc., which had entered the market during that same period. During World War II, much activity took place around copper mines in nearby Woodlands due to their importance as sources of metal for war production including munitions plants; however no copper was mined at Copperas Cove during World War II. However someochrous lead ore mined near Cedar Hill also came into use during World War II as feedstock for metalurgical operations within petroleum refineries throughout Texas
