In Corinth, Texas, the United States Army Garrison Command Post (AGC) was established in 1941. The AGC provides services to the residents of Corinth and is responsible for all military activities within the city limits. The AMC also oversees the operation of Camp Bledsoe and several other military installations within Corinth.
C Corinth is a small town in Grayson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,052 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and is located in the eastern edge of the county. Corinth's ZIP code 77501 covers most of its area. The community was founded by John Wesley Hardin in 1881 as a trading post on the Brazos River near present-day Corinth. In 1886, Hardin named his community after his brother-in-law, Captain Cornelius Hays (1824–1911), a Confederate general who fought in Texas during the American Civil War. From 1916 to 1920, Corinth served as capital of Grayson County. The original courthouse and jail were destroyed by fire; new ones were erected in 1924. The town was renamed for General James Ewell Gilmore (1863–1945), commander of US forces during World War II and later mayor of Arlington Heights, Illinois, one of Chicago's largest suburbs.

The first post office was established in Corinth on March 15, 1849. The town grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its strategic location as a crossroads for travelers between Wichita Falls and Fort Worth. In 1907, Corinth became an independent municipality with a government its own school district and policeman department. After years of decline during World War II, the community bounced back during the postwar period with growth in trade and entertainment industries such as motel development and auto manufacturing. However, economic decline has again hit Corinth recently with joblessness rates reaching 10%. A new downtown development is currently under construction which will make it easier for people to get around town while creating new opportunities for businesses.

Corinth was renamed to Amarillo in 1907 after theuala, or Amarillo Hills, which are located in neighboring New Mexico.
