Corsicana, Texas is a small city located in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas on the border of Baja California and Guerrero. The city was founded by Italian colonists in 1837 as Villa de Allende. It was named after General Antonio López de Santa Anna, who had been governor of Mexico City at the time. In 1849, Villa de Allende became the capital of Alta California and it remained so until 1858 when Mexico City became its new capital. The United States military installed a cannon battery here in 1898 in honor of then-President Theodore Roosevelt, who was then visiting Mexico to negotiate an end to the Spanish–American War. The cannons were brought over from Fort Worth, Texas and are still operational today. Because Corsicana is located on a key military reservation administered by the U.S., it has been home to American forces since shortly after World War II began. After America’s victory in that war, many American servicemen returned home and found themselves necessary for reconstruction work such as rebuilding infrastructure here in Corsicana which had been severely damaged by war damage and Hurricane Harvey. Today, Corsicana is one of several major cities across Texas that have seen increased military deployment because of both domestic and international events – most notably Operation Crossroads which saw German troops invade northwestern France during World War II; Operation Noble Eagle which saw Iraqi insurgents attack New York City; or Operation Neptune Spear which saw North Korean soldiers cross into South Korea during the Korean War

Corsicana, Texas is a city located in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 579 at the 2010 census. Corsicana is the county seat of Cameron County and it is also the easternmost city in Texas. The original inhabitants of Corsicana were the Kenedy Apache, who occupied land that now includes much of downtown Corsicana. The first permanent settler in what is today Corsicana was James Waddell, who arrived on July 6, 1836. Waddell named his new community after José Félix de la Vega y Costilla, governor of Coahuila and Chihuahua during the Mexican era. In 1839, Captain John Smith surveyed and platted what would become present-day Corsicana when he discovered an area rich in mineral resources including coal and oil wells. By 1850, cotton had become the leading crop grown in central Texas and several brickyards built to produce this crop became prominent throughout town until they were destroyed by fire in 1865. In 1847–48 Pecos County was created from portions of Tejas and Hidalgo counties; thus Corsicana became its county seat but no law or order existed as to who should hold court or how property could be taxed within the newly formed county limits which included much of central TX outside of Brenham & Midland (then part of Hudspeth County). A group led by Judge JF Denton purchased all outstanding real estate within Pecos County for $1 per acre from those who held title thereto prior to November 1st1847 when all former Spanish owned land ceded to US government under Treaty Of Guadalupe Hidalgo following Mexican War victory over US Army at Cerro Gordo Creek near Corpus Christi/Junction Road east of San Antonio Was this purchase final confirmation that Mexico had relinquished ownership interest & control over most of TX not just Presidio del Rio Grande? This event has been known as “The Day Of The Purchase” because paper money changed hands at a time when public opinion still favored Spain over Mexico hence citizens believed their actions enhanced national stature rather than diminished it

Corsicana is the current home of the Texas Rangers and is also the seat of Midland County government. The city's history dates back to 1883 when it was founded as a post station on the Butterfield Overland Mail Railway. In 1911, Corsicana became a municipal district, and in 1933 it was annexed by Midland County. In 1990, Corsicana lost its status as a municipality and became part of the new City of Midland District. On November 1, 2000, Corsicana received its own independent fire protection agency known as "Corsicana Fire Department Services." The Rutledge Hotel has been preserved as an historic landmark in downtown Corsicana since 1927. It is one of three remaining hotels that were built before World War I along what would become Interstate 10 in Houston Heights neighborhood near downtown Houston. The original Rutledge building had two stories with ten rooms and opened in 1907 as part of what would become Rusk Hotel Company Limited Partnership which included Rusk Hotel (now called Clear Channel Communications Headquarters) on Congress Avenue NW and Rutledge Onyx hotel on North Main Street NW across from Rice University NRHP Site - now Denny's restaurant inside the Houston Methodist Hospital Complex redevelopment project adjacent to Stryker Research Institute within Memorial Hermann hospital complex redevelopment project both located near Crosstown Parkway exit ramp off I-10 about 3 miles north east of present day Downtown Corsicana
