In 1951, Mrs. Alice Pemberton became the first woman to purchase a handgun when she bought a Smith & Wesson revolver from John Gistis Jr., president of Winchester Ammunition Co., Inc., located across the street from her home on FM 727 near Sixteenth Street in Deer Park. At that time handguns were not allowed within 500 feet of any school or church! Mrs. Pemberton enjoyed shooting handguns and would take them out for target practice at her home or go into nearby rural districts where gunfire was common during hunting season; however, she never faced any legal issues as long as she didn’t leave her home range unsupervised! In 1978, Mrs. Lola Hale picked up an initial purchase when she came into possession of an individualized model “Texas Cowboy” air rifle from EIRA Manufacturing Co., Ltd., also located across the street from her home on FM 727 near Seventeenth Street in Deer Park- this particular air rifle became known as “The Hale Rifle” due to its unique design which included a hand-held stock and fiberglass barrel/ receiver combination which gave it special features such as being able to fire both shot rounds and pellets! It is interesting to note that this particular air rifle has been exhibited at many local Gun Shows throughout its history including those held at A&M University – former home of several prominent firearm manufacturers including Colt Firearms Company and Remington Arms Company! This particular air rifle has also been auctioned off multiple times over the years with highest bids being reported around $150,000+! In 1998, another original purchaser arrived into our community when Driscoll family member Donny Odom picked up an American arms M1 Carbine pistol from Illinois Arms Corporation located across state line in Wichita Falls TX! This particular pistol eventually ended up going through several owners before it came into our hands again prior to its current ownership by us!!! It has since been offered for sale numerous times online with highest bids currently amounting closeto $140,000!!

Deer Park is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. It is a rural community located on the east side of Hudspeth County and within the Trinity National Forest. The first people to live in Deer Park were Scots-Irish immigrants who arrived there in the 1840s. They built log cabins and hunted deer and other animals for their food. These early settlers developed a small farming economy and raised chickens, pigs, cows, and horses. In 1850, settlers from Illinois founded Deer Park after crossing the prairies on horseback to find new land. They arrived with their families and began building homes around what is now First Street. By 1851, all of Deer Park had been surveyed and platted as Villagesite No. 2 (later renamed Deer Park). In 1857, pioneer James Cavanaugh organized a Methodist Episcopal church here which continued to be served until 1899 when it was replaced by a Baptist church owned by Jeptha Caldwell Sr.. In 1881–1882 two miles north of present day First Street a sawmill operated by George Stephenson produced logs for shipment downriver to Austin where they were cut into lumber plank or flooring while still wet; this mill still exists today as an agricultural attraction known as The Stephenson Mill House Museum &historicrectory
Deer Park first sprang up on a small piece of land near the present day intersection of FM 3287 and FM 1084 in 1881. It was named for John A. Deer, who donated the land to the town. In 1894, the population of Deer Park was just under 100 people and consisted mostly of farmers and their families. The first store in Deer Park opened its doors in 1895. By 1926, however, the town had grown to over 1,500 residents and had its own school, post office, church, doctor’s office and several businesses.
