Denton coffee history can be traced back to the early 1800s when ranchers in the area started planting coffee trees. Coffee beans were roasted on family farms and sold fresh or ground for sale at local stores. The first commercial roasters in Denton were German immigrants, Wilhelm and Johann Kappeler, who opened a coffee house on New Year's Day 1839. By 1851, Coffee Traders and Merchants had established a shop on Elm Street that was one of the first businesses in town. In 1895, Dutchman Johannes de Jong opened his own store on Elm near Trinity College. De Jong continued to roast and sell coffee until his death in 1915. By 1917, Denton had six coffee houses with more than 2,000 customers.
Denton is a city in Texas and the county seat of Denton County. The population was 34,903 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Red River in north-central Texas. The downtown district has been called "the cultural and commercial center of North TX", home to several large tourist attractions including the Denton Arts District and Denton State University. The town was founded by Methodist missionaries in 1873, and named for George Washington Denton, an early settler. The first school in town opened in 1875. In 1906, the first post office opened in Denton; it was moved to its current location within one year. By 1916, when oil production began operations nearby, there were over 20 businesses operating in what is now downtown Denton. After World War II, industries began to decline as demand for oil plummeted; however, new development has resumed since the late 2000s with a focus on renewable energy resources such as solar power and wind turbines. Denton, Texas is a town located in Fort Worth County, Texas. The population of the town was 41,854 as of the 2010 census. The town has been home to residents since 1856. Denton is named after General David Denton and his family who settled in the area in 1835. The first post office in what is now Denton opened on February 14th, 1857. Today, there are over 20 businesses located in the downtown area which offers shopping options for both local and international shoppers alike as well as professional services and businesses that cater to the needs of both locals and visitors alike. The history of Denton goes back even further than this though; it was actually founded by three brothers who were merchants along the Trinity River. In 1836 they started trading goods with Native Americans upriver from their current location while also setting up shop near what is now Northpark Mall. It wasn't until 1861 when General Sam Houston's army moved into Fort Worth that they finally received their own post office which called itself "Humble" because it was less likely to be attacked byya enemies on either side of the river (the nearby west bank). From here on out, mail would ride along wagons all day long down one or more rivers before reaching its destination at night under guard from Indian warriors who sometimes managed to steal letters or even worse - kill riders! One interesting note about early days in this part of the country is that not only did mail need to be transported long distances but alsodangerous items like weapons and explosives had to be handled with care lest them fall into enemy hands or end up lost forever among some other frontier outpost's records! Nevertheless, due diligence prevailed until fairly recently when email replaced many activities such as postal service - something we take for granted today but back then it just wasn't possible without a lot of paperwork! Anyway, continuing our story... In 1876 entrepreneur J P Hogg started selling ice cream from a wagon parked outside his house on Commerce Street today known as Main Street between Elm & Commerce Streets. By 1888 he had built an entire block south of downtown where he currently resides still selling ice cream today! What made him successful? Certainly not simply having an innovative product - his products were really good too! His business grew rapidly thanks largely to word-of-mouth marketing techniques that helped him keep prices low while ALSO ensuring quality control by testing different flavors and ingredients regularly against originals he purchased direct from suppliers overseas! As word spread about his delicious treats people started coming from all over Fort Worth County looking for a taste so they could tell if he truly had original equipment... no sir not just French vanilla ice cream!! Fast forward another hundred years or so and voila you have some pretty interesting roots including involvement with several major civic events including being one of only two cities (along with Amarillo) ever awarded city rights!!! Finally getting its own library & museum!!!
Founded in 1879, Denton is the oldest city in Texas. It was named for General Sam Houston and his army, which burned down the town during the Texan Revolution. The current City of Denton was formed in 1919 from a merger of several towns in east central Texas.
