The Coast Guard Station in Duncanville, Texas was established on December 15, 1922. The first station was located at the current location on Highway 281. The original purpose of the station was to provide law enforcement and emergency services to the area around Duncanville. In 1941, a new station was built on the present site west of town on I-10. This station became known as "Station Beach" because it served as the primary harbor for vessels docking at Duncanville Municipal Dockyards. In 1966, the old flour mill complex in town were demolished and replaced by a new Coast Guard Station that currently functions as an auxiliary detachment of The Texas Department of Public Safety. On October 3, 1998, a $1 million renovation project completed at Station Beach included expansion of living and dining quarters for squadron members and their families; addition of showers, laundry facilities, mess hall and exercise galleries; renovation of air conditioning/heat systems; installation of new fences; painting/coating all surfaces inside and outside buildings; replacement or refurbishment of several obsolete equipment items (gunsights, radar dishes) One major event that took place at this station during 1998 involved Hurricane Floyd which caused extensive damage to many homes in central Duncanville. Damage totaled over $200 thousand dollars with most damage being done to windows and doors within homes. Many troopers from Company C along with friends/family donated time and money to help rebuild while local businesses offered free services such as cleaning up grocery stores after storms like Floyd visit these areas again please do not forget our Troopers!

The Duncanville Coast Guard Station was founded in 1918 by the Texas Legislature as the first coast guard station on the Texas Gulf Coast. The original station was located at Point Conception, just south of present-day Duncanville. In 1935, the station moved to its current location on Goose Island. In 1949, a new tower and training hangar were built at the old Point Conception site. In 1954, a radar installation was added to the station. The station grew more complex over time with addition of an icebreaker tender (1958), a harbor patrol boat (1964), and a helicopter landing/takeoff area (1978). In 1990, a new gate house and command center were built at the Goose Island site. In 2000, navigation systems were installed for both harbor patrol boats and helicopters. A radar system was also added to support maritime security patrols off southern Louisiana in 2002. In 2006, two additional harbor patrol boats were acquired and converted into coastal guard vessels; these boats are now known as "Duncanville Harbor Patrol" vessels. A third unit will be acquired in 2013 to replace an aging tugboat that is no longer able to operate in close proximity to shorelines due to age or environmental concerns.
Duncanville is a town located in the U.S. state of Texas, on the banks of the Trinity River. The population was 3,834 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The town was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1881 and named after Duncan Macdonald, first Earl of Zetland and Prime Minister of Scotland during the early part of this century. The post office opened in 1883, and was renamed Duncanville in 1901 after John A. Duncan, an admiral in World War I who also served as United States Ambassador to Great Britain from 1917 to 1919. In 1910, Duncanville became one of seventeen towns consolidated into Dallas County under new county government structure; it remained that way until 1923 when it reverted to its original status as a village withinDallas County. In 1934, Duncanville annexed portions of Garland County and became incorporated as a city; however, it reverted back to its village form two years later when Garland County merged with Irving County into the newly formed Dallas–Fort Worth area. In 1960, portions of Arlington Heights were transferred from Garland County to Dallas County so that they could be annexed into Duncanville; annexation occurred on November 1 that year. On December 12th 1961 residents approved an ordinance which designated their community "Mayor"govinde Ladd as responsible for all aspects related thereto including zoning decisions and street maintenance while City Clerk Bessie Rodgers performed all other municipal functions within their limits - services currently provided by City Manager Donnie Dellinger (Dellinger's predecessor). This ordinance remains in effect today as Mayor Dellinger issues ordinances subject only to City Council review and amendment prior to adoption - providing for more efficient governance for our growing community! The current Civic Center Complex began construction in 1978 on what had been a vacant lot near downtown Duncanville; initial budget estimates placed its completion date at 1990 but delays caused it to be pushed back several times until 1998 when groundbreaking finally took place following increased funding availability through private donations both large and small! The complex has since grown into one of America's most successful municipally owned development projects - hometo some exciting civic events each year such as State Fair Parade & Festival®, Kiwanis Club Tournament® & Rotary Ball® along with countless retail/commercial units!
