The Coast Guard Auxiliary in Edinburg, Texas has been providing protection and support to the citizens of our community since 1912. In that time, the Auxiliary has played an important role in keeping our coastline safe from harm. In 1978, the Auxiliary was renamed the Coast Guard District 3-Edinburg Sector. This name change reflected the growing importance of coast guard services in our community. The Sector includes all of Fort Worth County and portions of Dallas County. In 1990, the Sector was restructured into four divisions: North East Southwest, Northwest South Central, Southeast and West Central. These divisions were responsible for different areas on the Gulf Coast including Clearwater Beach; Corpus Christi; Hutchins Bay; Refugio Island; and Rocksall Landing. Today, members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary continue their essential roles as protectors of our coastline by participating in many local events such as paintball tournaments and crabbing contests. In addition to this fun activity, coastal communities rely on the help of members of district 3-Edinburg Sector when it comes to emergency response drills or other emergencies.

Edinburg, Texas is a small city in the U.S. state of Texas that was founded in 1876 and became an important center for cattle and oil production. The city is located in Williamson County, about 20 miles (32 km) northeast of Austin and 50 miles (80 km) west of Dallas. As of the 2010 census, Edinburg had a population of 34,913. It is the second-largest town in Williamson County after Fort Worth. Edinburg is known for its shopping centers, including one near the confluence of the Trinity River and Eagle Creek which has more than 12 million square feet (1 million sq m) of floor space; its large Tyson's restaurants chain; and its movie theaters, including Regal Cinemas Parkway 7 and Regal Cinemas Southlake Center. The Coast Guard was founded in 1914 as the United States Maritime Commission. The title of Coast Guard has been changed more than once, but the core mission of the Coast Guard remains to protect America's coasts and waterways by providing leadership and support for maritime safety and security. The first Coast Guard station was established on Long Island in 1994. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1995 authorized the creation of a coast guard aviation unit, which later became known as the Coast Guard Aviation Unit. In 2003, Congress passed the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill which provided $1 billion for border security purposes including a 5 percent increase for the Coast Guard. This funding helped create a new Directorate of Enforcement and Investigations within Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that is responsible for investigating violations of immigration law by aliens who cross into the United States from other countries. In 2007, President George W. Bush announced his intention to reduce funding for DHS until 2009 effective January 1st, 2008. After further discussion between both sides, it was decided that no cuts would be made to DHS unless there were significant changes with respect to immigration enforcement including those related to vessel transportation or drug trafficking on our nation's coasts. As result of this decision CBP received an additional 3 million dollars through grants from Homeland Security Presidential Directive 6-2 whose purpose is "to improve public safety while protecting Federal interests along America's borders." In early 2008, after months of negotiations between DHS officials and representatives from various state agencies representing coastal communities across America, it was announced that DHS would eliminate its existing jurisdiction over vessels operating within 100 miles of any shoreline in 29 states plus Dauphin County salt water outfall where federal law allows Vessels operating without proper permits upriver from state line zigzag fashion 500 nautical miles inland! Of course this news caused major outcry throughout coastal communities impacted by this proposed policy change; however subsequent meetings between state government officials revealed that many governors had already negotiated agreements with their counterparts in Washington D.C., allowing them seamless cooperation with local authorities during times when vessels are operated within 100 miles of shorelines in their states without any prior notice or consent being obtained fromlocal residents! These type of decisions can have serious consequences not just for individual citizens affected by these laws but also waves upon waves of tourists visiting our coastline each summer season who rely on economic activity generated by ships transporting goods ashore; businesses which will now have their operations stopped completely as they cannot safely dock their boats at night due to increased patrols along our coastlines!

Edinburg, Texas is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 1,577 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Houston metropolitan area. The Edinburg area was first settled by European Americans in 1836. The community was originally named "Eddington" after Colonel James Eddington of Virginia who donated land for the town site. The post office at Edinburg was established in 1838 and remained in operation until it closed on December 15, 1954. The first settler to reside in what is now Edinburg was John Ritchie who arrived in 1836 from Scotland. He homesteaded a piece of land on which he built his cabin and raised livestock. In 1840, another Scotsman named Alexander Turnbull purchased property adjacent to Ritchie's farm and started farming there as well. By 1855, all three men had died and their holdings were sold off or given away to other settlers whose families also ranched there for years thereafter. During the days of slavery, African Americans worked as sharecroppers on white-owned farms near present day Houston while awaiting their free passage to America aboard the USS " XYZ ". These Africans were known as "cotton pickers". Many black Texans grew up around Edinburg because they went to school with white children nearby or because they worked on local plantations during their formative years (1835-1860). In 1865, when Reconstruction Ended following the American Civil War, most blacks north of Austin left Texas for Arkansas or Missouri due to political instability within that state followed by economic hardships caused by cotton planting done without help from white farmers who profited handsomely from slave labor! For many African Americans living south of Interstate 10 this meant an end to any hope of upward mobility resulting from their ancestors' hard work ethic! This period marked a turning point for African Americans living along Ulysses S Grant's historic route through TX - once freedmen could travel freely northward however some faced discrimination even after gaining access bar Work Permits which limited opportunities for advancement both inside and outside TX government jobs! As these men made their way back intoTexan society over time they encountered various challenges like joblessness and poverty that continue today affecting many Black Texans including current residents of Highland Park/Houston
Edinburg, Texas was founded in 1876. The area that is now Edinburg was part of the Mexican Republic and it was named after the city of Mexico City. The town was first settled by Anglo settlers in the 1840s. In 1876, a group of entrepreneur gold prospectors led by John Wesley Hill established a small town in what is now Edinburg. The town quickly became a mining center for gold and silver exploration, and it grew rapidly thanks to its convenient location on the Comanche River. By 1907, Edinburg had Reached its peak as a railroad junction and commercial center. However, during World War I, the town rallowed due togements from Colorado and Kansas forces in support of America's war effort. After the war ended, Edinburg declined as a mining center until it regained its former prosperity through various businesses including ranching and manufacturing. Today, Edinburgh is an attractive community with many cultural attractions including several museums and theaters
