In 1935-1936 there was a major expansion when ECCO Coffee Company opened its doors in Dealey Plaza with 102 rooms including 5 floors of café space! This newly built facility allowed for greater selection and variety of beans while also allowing customers to purchase roasted beans directly from their favorite roasters! Edinburg coffee history began in 1865 when a group of farmers on the east side of the Brazos River founded a small coffee plantation. The first beans were ground and roasted by local residents before being exported to Texas. In 1872, the first Starbucks opened in Edinburg, and it would remain an important part of the city's caffeine landscape until 1980. Edinburg, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 9,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area and is the county seat of Trinity County. The city was founded by Texans who left Mexico to escape religious persecution there in 1835. The first post office in Edinburg opened in 1836. In 1847, two steamboats anchored on the Texan River and unloaded goods for settlers downstream; this event was known as "The Landing." Edinburg became an important commercial center after railroads arrived in the 1870s and 1880s. The locally produced cotton gin facilities made it one of America's leading cotton production towns during this time frame; these operations were supported by largeanches (joint stock companies) that developed landholdings around town and raised cattle, cigars, oilseed crops, potatoes, cornmeal and other crops. In 1916, Edinburg hosted its first international fair which attracted over 100 exhibitors from 25 countries; this event helped support local businesses through greater trade opportunities with other nations during World War I. In 1951, a tornado struck downtown Edinburg leaving much damage; however no fatalities occurred within the city limits as a result of the storm. Edinburg, Texas is a small town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The first settlers in what became Edinburg were farmers and their families who arrived from Missouri in 1871. A post office was established in 1872, and the town was named after General James Bowie (1825-1910) who fought with Ulysses S. Grant during the Mexican–American War. The railroad came through the town in 1886, and by 1907 it had a school and a store. By 1920 there were 24 businesses in Edinburg, but by 1930 only four remained. In 1940 Edinburg had one church and no schools; by 1960 there were three churches and twenty-one schools within five miles of the town center. In 1942 an atomic bomb destroyed Hiroshima which made Edinburg one of the few American cities to experience World War II bombings. The bombing has been cited as one of the most destructive events to hit America since World War II. After 1945 many residents left for various reasons including jobs opportunities in other parts of TX or out of concern for nuclear safety measures throughout America following Japan's surrender on September 2nd 1945 without any reparations being given to Japan
