Navy Deployed Gift History in Ennis, Texas began with the USS Constitution (1814) and continued through the USS Enterprise (CV-6) in 1970. The USS Lexington (CV-22), which served as the first ship to deploy during Operation Desert Storm in 1991, is also credited with being the first warship to receive a Navy Deployed Gift History Award. The USS Constitution was donated by Commodore John F. Kirby of Norfolk, Virginia on May 6, 1814. After decommissioning in 1821, it was sold to Ennis merchants Denton & Griggs and placed into service as a storehouse on October 25th of that year. It arrived at Corpus Christi on November 8th and remained there until February 7th of 1865 when it sailed for Pensacola Beach, Florida under command of Commodore David Dixon Porter. After serving as a garrison at Key West before returning home on June 10th following the Spanish-American War, the Constitution became part of Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter’s flagship squadron during World War II when he assumed command of Destroyer Squadron Fifteen from Flag Officer Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz on December 15th 1944. From then until her decommissioning in 1951 she participated in training exercises off Long Island before sailing for Panama City where she arrived on January 2nd 1946 and served as flagship for Commander Naval Forces Western Pacific from that date until heractivation on September 1st 1952. She returned to San Diego after eight months deployment to Korea and arrived back at Long Beach California two days after her country’s victory there over North Korea - thus becoming one of only three ships ever awarded this distinction along with HMS Warrior (D805), HMS Ark Royal (D810) and HMAS Vampire (L47). Following recommissioning on October 1st 1953 she took part in various deployments throughout missile alert operations during the Cold War before arriving back at San Diego Bay July 31st 1960 just prior to withdrawing from active duty effective September 16th 1961. She served briefly as an anchorage battery ship stationed at Imperial Beach California before undergoing conversion into an amphibious assault ship once againeffective November 3rd 1967 when she become Command Ship HMAS Sydney(L48) attached to Amphibious Assault Group One embarked upon HMAS Perth(A61). This group conducted combat operations against such targets as Songdo Air Basenorthwest of Seoul using both landings ashore by helicopter and air assaults using tanks, infantry and artillery fire while also participating in combined arms exercises within their zoneofoperations On October 3rd 1972the USS Dallas collided with SS United States causing damage which led to its donation by Mrs John Jernigan Gibbs - mother of Captain James Worthy Gibbs who later became Commandant US Naval Academy . The repair bill amounted to $22500 USS New Orleans was donated by Rear Admiral Rufus King Jr., son rear admiral who had been commanding officer when vessel hit oil tanker while en route from Kuwait waters bound for Saudi Arabia - resulting loss of life including captain's wife Mrs Linda King Another $8000 was paid for salvage work done by Japanese Seamen aboard SS United States who were seamen belonging To Maritime Transport Agency Corporation which operated stricken tanker . On July 4 1975 several members Of crew Of Philippine Vessel Barangay Tondo were Offered Shooting At Bymembers Of Armed Robbery Gang Who Occupied Vessel When It Was anchored In Leyte Gulf They Were Not Apprehended And No Damage Done

She was sold to Cuban interests on 5 November 1992 and renamed "Cabo Cuba".
Ennis is a small town in Travis County, Texas. The population was 6,627 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The name Ennis comes from English settlers, who named it after their friend and business partner John Ennis. John first arrived in what is now Ennis in 1851 as one of the earliest farmers in this area. He founded the original mill here and became a prominent citizen in the community. His descendants still live here today. In 1907, brothers Winton and Francis Haney built a two-story frame school on what is now Main Street. They were inspired to do this after seeing an ad for a school building on local paper and feeling that they could make a difference in helping to build that infrastructure for future generations. The school servedEnnis until 1923 when it burned down due to fire caused by lightning damage while under construction. Another important figure in early Ennis history was Jeptha Mulholland Sr., who owned several businesses including a grocery store, post office, blacksmith shop, carpenter’s shop and livery stable before moving his family to nearby Round Rock around 1840. From there he operated cattle drives into central Texas every summer producing beef for local markets and selling off some of his products at auction later that year back home in England. Ennis, Texas is a town located in Carroll County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,610 at the 2010 census. The name Ennis comes from Ector County which was once part of Hudsons Bay Company land grants. The first post office in Ennis opened on July 7, 1879. The current post office building was built in 1912 and is currently used as the Ennis Public Library. On April 14, 1907, the town of Ennis incorporated under the laws of Texas. A year later it had a population of 350 people and its first school opened with 10 students. In 1911 the town erected a two-story concrete block courthouse which still stands today adjacent to First Baptist Church on Main Street (later renamed Speedway Avenue). According to local legend, when prohibition began to be practiced by Texans in 1920 alcohol became available for purchase only at saloons within five miles of town limits while elsewhere it remained prohibitively expensive or unavailable. Consequently, many citizens decided not to attend Prohibition-era events such as dances or carnivals because they could not obtain alcoholic beverages without leaving their homes. By 1925 the population had grown to 2,000 and asphalt surfaced on Highway 62 near First Baptist Church providing transportation for goods and services into town which continued until 1971 when a new bridge replaced the old one which caused serious flooding during heavy rains that year. In 1927 an oil well was drilled in what would become known as "The Hole" due to its location just outside of town limits and production began shortly thereafter; this led directly to development around The Hole area which now includes over 20 blocks including several hotels/motels/ restaurants along with several stores and other businesses including three medical offices before coming online in late 2017 following refurbishment project funded by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation In 1958 voters approved incorporation of unincorporated areas east of Highway 82 including present day Midland Park On November 5th 1966 Midland Park annexed Ennis after voting bylaws passed 3-2 against any annexation attempts made by either community since residents there desired none Midland Park's annexation created much controversy due largely to concerns about race but also some support from residents within Ennis who felt they were being pushed out unfairly
