Garland, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas and is the county seat of Garland County. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Garland was founded by Anglo-Saxon settlers in 1836 as a farmstead on the banks of the Trinity River. By 1880, it had become an agricultural center with markets for cotton and hog meat, as well as two Methodist Churches and one Baptist Church. In 1907, Garland became a consolidated city with Arlington Heights to its south and Mesquite to its east; both cities were later merged into Dallas. When Dallas annexed Arlington Heights in 1924, Garland took over most of Mesquite's land west of Interstate 10 (the old route from downtownDallas to Mesquite) and lost all but about 15 percent of its population since then to annexation alone or migration within Dallas County itself (largely due to farming changes). In recent decades, Garland has regained some lost population due to job moves away fromDallas/Fort Worth or new arrivals from other parts ofTexas seeking opportunities hereabouts (located mostly around Texas Tech University). However overall employment levels remain low despite predictions by local leaders that they will continue doing so for years to come because many residents still rely heavily on agriculture which remains their primary employer even though output has fallen precipitously over time."

Garland, Texas is a city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 27,711 at the 2010 census. Garland was founded in 1875 by Germans who settled in what is now Midland County. It became a town in 1907 and then a city in 1920. The current mayor of Garland is Lee Dayhoff. The first permanent settlers to the area that would become Garland were members of the Deutsch family who came from Cologne, Germany in 1837. They erected a cabin on the east side of present-day Midland County near present-day High Island Lake before moving westward into what is now Holmes County and setting up shop along Buffalo Bayou. Over time other families followed suit and by 1860 there were over 100 German Settlers living in what would become Garland. In 1865 William Henson established himself as an oilman and landowner near today's downtown Dallas with his brother John Henson becoming joint owner with him of about 160 acres (66 hectares). By 1870 William Henryson had developed some 25 wells around Wichita Falls and began shipping crude oil to Houston for refining into gasoline and kerosene. In 1872 he leased from Sam Houston State Park 1,000 acres (400 hectares) northeast of downtown Dallas for $2 per acre ($/ha). This land formed the nucleus for future development around Dearborn Road, where Houston Oil Well #4 was drilled on November 15th, 1912 using equipment provided by George Eastwood & Son (!), founder of Eastwood Refining Company based at Fort Worth; this well later became known as Trinity Well #1 due to its proximity to that site! With Eagle Ford Field opening up nearby soon after starting operations at Enron Corp's giant new refinery complex located just south of downtown Dallas – things got pretty busy! It wasn't until 1901 when Ewing Brothers Garage & Supply Co., which still operates out of its original location on Elm Street across from City Hall – started selling cars directly to drivers via omnibus service throughout GreaterDallas – giving rise to one Of These Nights Party Scene that we know all too well today! And if you're wondering how we ended up here exactly...the answer lies within one very important milestone… On July 6th, 1955 Mayor Forrest Barnes walked off his job following criticism from state legislators regarding plans for Interstate Highway 10 through much of North Texas including portions now known as Garland; this led directly to the creation of the local government we know today! Yes folks back then it really did go THAT fast!! Once again lots of history being made here folks!!!
