The Glenn Heights, Texas military family has been using the gift of the Gift of War to support its Troops and community since 1942. The Unit Commander's Association (UCA) was organized in 1946 by Capt. John Cramer with the goal of keeping members connected and sharing information about unit activities. UCA provides an annual weekend event for Colleagues, family & friends to come together and celebrate service through visits from Soldiers and their families. In 2009, the Glenn Heights Military Family Foundation was established to perpetuate the memory of fallen Soldiers and their Families through grants, donations, scholarships, networking opportunities and more. The Foundation helps promote education about service and sacrifice within our Armed Forces as well as provide resources such as clothing, books, equipment and more to local troops in need.

The Glenn Heights, Texas Army Garrison was activated on October 5, 1865. The garrison served as the headquarters of the 1st Texas Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. It was disbanded in 1868.

The community was founded as asite for military housing in 1914 by Colonel John Sweeny and his wife Jennie Thomson. They named their new settlement after Glenn Heights, Michigan, where they had relatives who were stationed during World War I. The original homes were post-and-beam buildings with thatched roofs and sod driveways. In 1930, when Fort Worth became an incorporated city, Colonel Sweeny donated land to the city for municipal use and Glenn Heights became its first village. Glenn Heights has experienced economic growth over the years due to its location withinFort Worth's business district and its proximity to several major shopping malls and airports. The community's commercial institutions include two banks (JPMorgan Chase & Co., N/A) and three health care facilities (Houston Methodist Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Baptist Memorial Hermann Hospital). Residents also have access to numerous recreational opportunities including golf courses (Glenn Heights Golf Course; Pinnacle Hills Golf Club), tennis courts (McLendon Park Tennis Courts), a swimming pool (Great Lakes Swimming Pool), a basketball court (.500" hoop) and playgrounds (.75-.85" height).

Glenn Heights is a small town in Webb County, Texas, United States. It was founded in 1847 by Rear Admiral James Glenn and his wife Sarah Heard. The city of Glen Heights was established on February 15, 1907, when it annexed the adjoining town of Horseshoe Bend. The first post office in Glenn Heights opened on October 1, 1847. The name "Glenn Heights" was chosen because of Admiral James Glenn's ownership of a dam that could power a local sawmill. Glen Heights grew rapidly due to its location near the Chisholm Trail and early railroad development. In 1870 the population of Glenn Heights reached 2,500 people and by 1880 it had grown to 11,000 people. By 1900 the population had increased to 23,000 people and by 1910 it had reached 30,000 people. During World War II the city became an important munitions production center for the war effort as well as providing housing for workers who produced munitions at various factories located within its boundaries. On December 8, 1941 three months before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor (the attack which would lead to America entering World War II), the Japanese destroyer USS Kaga bombed Glenn Heights with torpedoes while passing through its waters off Florida Beach; this destroyed many homes and businesses within the city limits including those owned by Admiral James Glenn himself since he lived just outside of town on his rancho de las Palmas property which also served as part of Fort Worth military base at that time
Glenn Heights was founded by the Glenn family in 1879. The family operated a grocery store and general store until 1902. From 1903 to 1911, the Glenn family ran a cotton gin. In 1912, they built their first home on the site of their current business. The Glenn family purchased the business from its founders in 1916. They operated it as a grocery store and general store until 1951 when they sold it to J.W. Pemberton Jr.. The Pemberton family operated it as a grocery store and post office until 1984 when it was closed due to economic troubles.
