The Navy has a rich history in Grapevine, Texas. The first Naval Station here opened in 1898 and was used as a training ground for sailors before being turned into an airfield in the 1940s. The base was home to the Flying Tigers during World War II, and later hosted many other military units. Today, the Naval Station is home to the USS Dallas (CV-76) and also houses many civilian organizations including NASA’s Johnson Space Center and Trinity Health System. The Navy has deployed gifts to Texas since at least World War II. In 1944, they donated a shipyard in Corpus Christi so that local businesses could build warships. They also donated land on which the Johnson Space Center now stands. The military has also donated various items such as a submarines berth, weapons systems test range, and several helicopters. Grapevine is particularly well known for its USS Dallas (CV-76). This warship was gifted to the state of Texas by the Navy in 1976. It is one of only two vessels ever given to America by Japan in total-the other being the Yasukuni Shrine Peace Boat Museum ship “Okinawa Maru” which was given to Japan in 2011. The city of Grapevine erected a plaque honoring both ships within their city limits-one on an old cotton ginnery property adjacent to downtown while another plaque sits atop City Hall immediately outside of City Services Complexes sidewalks bordering IH 35/36 across from North Star Bank Plaza parking lot!

Grapevine, Texas is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2000 census. Grapevine is located on US-81 north of Austin and south of Dallas. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1887 by Judge James C. Guthrie as a ranch checkpoint on the old Rio Grande Trail between San Antonio and Laredo. On January 12, 1889, Guthrie posthumously named his community after himself and his wife Eliza Acheson Guthrie (1848-1924), widow of Rear Admiral George W. Acheson (1849-1922). The first post office opened in 1888 with five mailbags per day from Snyderville and other local communities along the trail. Grapevine grew quickly because it was accessible to travelers who needed access to water for irrigation or for cattle feed wagon transportation overland from Laredo and Mission Viejo to Houston and point east across the border into Mexico City. By 1900, grapevines were being grown throughout much of Hudspeth County; some are still found today near downtown Grapevine proper and other areas around town that were developed during its early years such as University Park (now part of UT Austin) and Fair Oaks development northeast of downtown which includes many old residences dating back to early 20th century white farmers who took advantage of new city growth opportunities while also making investments in their properties which continue to be well known today including several restaurants/bars/storage facilities used by locals as well as visitors alike. During World War II much activity took place at nearby Fort Sam Houston where aircraft manufacturing took place on site before being moved inland for use during the war with plants such as Vance Air Force Base providing employment for thousands during peacetime also contributing significantly to Research & Development work done at various research institutions operated out of Ft Sam Houston including those responsible for developing jet fighter technology etc... In recent decades there has been significant redevelopment taking place with two major projects currently under way - one focusing on creating an urban park adjacent to Main Street called "TheGalaxy" while another project focuses on redeveloping portions around Interstate 10 near IH-35W known collectively as "TheLoop". These projects are expected to result in more than 2,000 jobs when completed

Fayette and his family as a small settlement on the banks of the Trinity River. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the railroad and its access to markets for crops and livestock. In 1916, the city of Grapevine was incorporated and quickly became one of the most important commercial centres in Collin County. The city's growth slowed after World War II but resumed in the early 1960s when Interstate 35Aopened up new areas in central Collin County.
