Grapevine, Texas has been a center for firearms production and retail since the 1860s. The city's gun industry started with muzzleloaders and pistols, then moved on to rifles and shotguns. Grapevine is a city in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 12,752 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hudspeth County. The settlement of Grapevine was founded in 1872 by Captain Lewis Hays and his family as a farmstead on the east side of the Brazos River. By 1876, grapevines had begun to be grown in earnest in the area and by 1887, grape-growing had become an official industry with patents granted to various individuals and companies for their invention of sugar cane technology that allowed for more consistent yields than traditional methods. In 1896, Sheriff Amos J. Caldwell named Grapevine after Jesse James' ranch near Austin because he felt that it would be a strong community built around agriculture rather than being just another small town on the edge of a rural region. In 1924, General George Smedley announced plans for what would become Corpus Christi – then known as Sam Houston National Airport – which led to the development of downtown Grapevine as one of its first areas for commercial growth. After World War II ended and restrictions were placed on military housing developments throughout Texas, many local businesses moved out of downtown Grapevine into new buildings located along Interstate 40 or Highway 281 outside of town limits until they could be redeveloped into new businesses again following reclamation efforts by prior owners during that time period. This resulted in some loss to downtown Grapevine's commerical district but also helped spur economic redevelopment across much of Hudspeth County during this same era; such activity has continued into recent years while Interstate 40/Highway 281 remain two major transportation arteries through which most people move within their respective communities today. In 1957, when Corpus Christi became an independent city under statehood (it formally did so on November 3rd, 1959), Mayor Lillie Mae Smith renamed her hometown “Grapevine” after Governor John Connally’s wife since it was felt that such a name would identify both cities better statewide and also attract more business investment from out-of-state investors who might have considered moving away from Corpus Christi should it become politically sensitive due to its allegiance with Houston metropolitan area interests over those within our own city government. The opening night services for Hurricane Ike took place at Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) before being transported back home to Houston via road shuttles using RGV Boulevard; cowboy hats and cowgirls were common visitors seen driving around town during those days! On October 26th 2009 Hurricane Gustav made landfall near Galveston Bayfront Park causing extensive damage including downed power lines blocking access roads leading into Downtown Grapville which caused significant traffic congestion throughout much of late morning rush hour especially when it came available; however Power restored almost immediately once authorities got control over things beginning late afternoon! Overall though there were reports throughout much Greater Corpus Christi/Houston Area regardingTGVBarbuda rating 5 stars OUT OF 5 based off effects received...A very serious weather event we NEVER expected!
