The Marine Corps has deployed in support of many different missions throughout history. Some of the most famous deployments include World War II, the Vietnam War, and Iraq/Syria. The Marines have a long and proud history of providing service to our country. One of the most well-known Marines is Major General William C. Westmoreland who commands the 1st Marine Division stationed in Harker Heights, Texas. This small town located in Williamson County was once home to over 10,000 Marines and their families who served our country from 1941 until 1988 when they were all relocated to Camp Pendleton Naval Base in California. Now that the Marines are permanently based here at Harker Heights we can appreciate how much they have contributed to our community and culture! In 1951, when Marine Commandant Vice Admiral James Stockdale ordered marinesmobile armored cars into use for operations against North Korean forces he knew this would be an important mission. The first Marine Mobile Armored Car Battalion was formed at Fort Polk Louisiana with these vehicles as their primary means of transports. These units played a critical role during Operation Market Garden which resulted in the collapse of Kim Il Sung’s regime in South Korea! Over time, marine officers evolved their doctrine to allow them greater flexibility while on call; this led to increased amphibious assaults across many theaters including Afghanistan and Iraq! In 2007 André Fournier completed his four year tour as commanding general for UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter Squadron 6th Air Assault Brigade where he oversaw numerous combat ops against insurgents within Somalia’s al Shabaab insurgency group! During his tenure he also successfully conducted training exercises with Turkish Aerospace Forces (TAF) and Serbian Federal Army helicopter pilots flying close air support missions near Kosovo Albanians opposing Serbian National Guard troops! With such an impressive resume it is no wonder that General Westmoreland has called Harker Heights home since 1941!?

Harker Heights is a small town in Gregg County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,391 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The first settlers in Harker Heights were young men from Illinois who came to the area during the gold Rush in 1849. The town was named after Hiram Harker, an American entrepreneur and politician who had a ranch near present-day Plano. A post office was established in 1852, and by 1860 there were about 50 residents. In 1871, J.B. Hinton founded a cotton gin on what is now FM 2222 east of town. By 1902 there were 100 residents; by 1910 it had grown to 200-300 people. In 1907 Harker Heights organized as a village under the name of Indianola (later renamed Arlington). In 1912 they changed their name to Harker Heights because its founder wanted to distance himself from his Illinois roots and feel more like a community living within itself rather than being part of larger cities such as Chicago or Galveston (thenHouston). The first school opened in 1915 with six students; by 1925 there were 10 schools with over 500 students each. In 1927 two churches – First Baptist Church (founded 1909) and Methodist Episcopal Church (founded 1865) – merged into one church which later became known as Southern Methodist University Chapel before finally changing their affiliation back to First Baptist Church in 1961 when SMU moved out of Arlington proper and into new buildings on Elm Street just north of I-10 exit 362A/Shawnee Parkway that remain today home to both congregations; currently plans are for Southern Methodist University Chapel to move again(?) onto land adjacent to SHAWNEE PARKWAY Corporate Center property located at 81001 Preston Road #214 where all services will take place Campus Parkland Drive between SHAWNEE PARKWAY Corporate Center & Highway 6W

Harker Heights is a small town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 495 at the 2010 census. Harker Heights was founded in 1881 by settlers from Illinois. It became an unincorporated community in 1907 and has since been consolidated into the town of Harker Heights, Texas. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Harker Heights were farmers from Illinois who started a farm on the current site of the town in 1881. In 1907, it merged with nearby Quitman to form one larger community. The name "Harker Heights" comes from John Harker, an early settler and local leader who donated land for the new community. The town began as a small farming village with only 16 residents when it incorporated as an unincorporated community on November 2, 1907. At that time, it had a total population of just four people living on six farms surrounding the original post office square (now known as Walnut Street). By 1960, however, there were over 300 residents living in Harker Heights and its associated hamlets: West Side (later renamed East Side), North Side (later renamed South Side), Village Square (later renamed Parkview), and Glenbardie Square (later renamed Southridge). When Johnson County was created on January 1, 1901, most of present-day Johnson County belonged to Miller County which included parts of what is now Nolan County including Harker Heights. Because sectionalism grew increasingly apparent during this time period as counties divided along racial lines – with Miller County predominantly white while Johnson and Nolan Counties were mostly black – officials decided to create their own county without Miller's consent and gave all but three of its 36 sections to Johnston County instead on July 15th 1902. This left only two sectionalized counties remaining in Texas – McLennan and Newton – which led to much speculation as to what would happen to Harker Heights once Johnston County became fully operational. On October 5th 1906– seven years after incorporation– the Post Office moved from its original location near Walnut Street across Elm Street into newly constructed buildings at Northside High School where it remains today (though some alterations have been made over time). At that time the population of Harker Heights wasapproximately 350 residents including 35 children under 12 years old who lived at home with their parents or other relatives until they could get work elsewhere outside of school; many young adults worked part-time jobs locally or long hours for low pay providing both them and their families with basic needs such as food and shelter while attending school full-time or studying for college degrees; by 1960 about 75% of all adult residents worked outside the home either alone or together as husband/wife teams; many single women also took advantage of opportunities available during this initial phase of social change within American society before marriage rates began increasing significantly more progressively throughout later decades ASEAN era!
