The founders of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf were Bob Evans and his brother Donny. They started the business because they wanted to provide a high-quality cup of coffee at a low price point. They used whole beans instead of pre-ground beans, and they roasted their own beans rather than using those from other businesses. In 1956, Bob Evans opened up another smallbatch coffee shop called Java Junction on Montrose Drive in The Woodlands. Java Junction was the first Starbucks in Texas, and it served only espresso drinks. It was also the first store ever to offer drip water systems for customers' coffeemakers! In 1990, Java Junction moved to its current location on Westheimer Road in Montrose Park. In 2001, Java Junction closed down due to financial difficulties. However, its legacy lives on through its namesake cafe - which still serves espresso drinks and drip water systems today! In 2007, Starbucks Corporation announced that it would close all OFA stores across America by 2009 because of increasing competition from online grocery stores like Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (ADP) .
