Woodbury, who served as president from 1911 to 1913; Johnnie Denton, who served from 1916 to 1918; and Fenton Greenlaw, who served from 1919 to 1921. In 1927, the Gun Club of America moved its meeting place todetermination near Lamar University so that it could be closer to customers and easier for them to find out about the club’s products and services. In 1938, membership increased by 10 percent due to an expansion into east Texas thanks to brothers James Ewing (1904-1978) and Joe Ewing (1900-1984). In 1942, when World War II started, many people in Huntsville were unable or unwilling to go into battle because they were needed in other areas of the country. However, some members of the Gun Club of America decided that they should still continue selling guns because there were still plenty of firearms available for sale within cities like Huntsville during wartime. The War Time Sales Committee was formed in 1945 and consisted of five men: Jens Weininger (1914-2008), vice president; Harry Hixon (1920-2009), secretary; Elmer Sperling Jr.(1923-2009), treasurer; and Clarence Truesdell(1928-2010). They sold weapons not only from their own personal collections but also from those belonging to local businesses and organizations like Hunt Valley Rifle Range which had closed its doors during World War II but reopened after the war as a shooting range again with new equipment donated by Hunt Valley Chamber Of Commerce member Willard Compton(1892-1968). On January 15th 1946 two new shotguns were given away free when members bought four rounds each of Winchester’s Model 94 rifles at Big Spring Sporting Goods store on Dale Street in downtown Huntsville! The new shotguns were called Pumpers and they were introduced as part of a marketing campaign called “Huntsville Week” which lasted through February 2nd 1946. The goal was for citizens all over town to get their hands on some Winchester rifles before they went off into combat overseas!
