On December 1, 1952 the Kingsville Air Force Base was activated with the activation of the 135th Fighter Wing. The 135th Fighter Wing was a military wing which provided fighter aircraft and support to the Republic of Texas Air National Guard. The wing was equipped with F-86 Sabres and F-104 Starfighters. In 1957, the wing became an air defense squadron when it activated under command of Ninth Air Force in Europe. It flew FS-3A Panthers and FS-5C Shooting Stars over Germany until 1960 when it transitioned to FS-4B Falcons.
Kingsville is a town in Waller County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,368 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Waller County. Kingsville was founded in 1836 by Captain John Clements and his family as Kingsvilleta. The name originated from its location on the Red River between Austin and San Antonio. In 1861, Kingsville changed its name to Kingsville after Confederate General John Bell Hood's Headquarters were located there. In 1892, the railroad arrived in Kingsville and made it one of its stops. A millinery store opened in 1898 and became known as the "Queen of Queens." In 1903, a post office was established at Kingsville with Wm. Pemberton as first mail carrier. In 1906, a new courthouse was built and named for Judge James Hinton Cook Sr., who had been an early settler in nearby Williamson County. The townspeople began hosting their own baseball tournaments which led to the formation of the first professional baseball organization in Texas-the Dallas Cowboys (now called MLB's Texas Rangers). The town also hosted several rodeos over time including three famous bullring events that are still remembered today: The Big Four World Championships (1932), The Cowboy 100 (1981), and The Big One (2003). In 1955, authorities discovered what they believed may have been a nuclear weapons test site near Kingsville when they observed strange activity near several small hills close to downtown; this led to an investigation that revealed more than 50 acres (20 hectares) of undeveloped land adjacent to Interstate 20 had been leased by local farmers for development into a nuclear weapon testing zone with access only through unmarked gates leading into private property owned by government scientists working on creating advanced missiles! Today much of this area remains off-limits to visitors due to environmental concerns but portions have been reopened for tours under restrictions placed upon them by federal officials... KingsVILLE - From Its Origin To Today KingsVILLE traces its origins back over 180 years ago when Captain John Clements settled along the Red River between Austin and San Antonio for purposes of trade with Mexico City! At that time there were no towns within present day Waller County other than Williamson & Travis Counties! Captain Clements named his settlement after himself – “Kingsvilleta” – based upon his observation that he could find no other settlements nearer than King’s Ford ahead on the banks of Red River where he had recently traded goods with Mexicans! soon thereafter many others followed suit or renamed themselves after local heroes or participants in struggles against Spanish forces during Mexican Independence War such as Sam Houston (1828-1893) or Andrew Jackson (1767-1845)! However all these changes came about primarily becauseched roadways connecting each community simply didn’t exist until later!! Upon arrival into this newly created county everyone tried valiantly to build their homes behind thosestantial walls using whatever materials they could find here!!!! By 1900 most residents hereabouts had learned how difficult it actually was just TO EARN A DOLLAR IN THIS COUNTRY!!! With so few resources available outside DFW airport precincts things quickly got outof hand….. Then some enterprising citizens started building lumber yards/stores etc out on old dirt lots next door………. folks worked hard getting things moving again BUT THEY NEVER REALIZED THAT THE ECONOMY WAS ABOUT TO SOARS AS IT DID!!!!! THEN AGAIN SOMEONE STARTED BUILDING A GAS STATION BECAUSE EVERYONE HERE KNEW THAT WE NEEDED IT FOR OUR HOUSEWIVES AND CHILDREN TO USE WHEN THEY VISITED FROM OUT OF STATE!!! Continued growth brought more people along with it………. eventually enough resources became available insideWaller County limits once again enabling our citizens once againto start building………….. however not before another world class bust happened almost 25 years later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For all those reasons above I believe we can rightfully call ourselves “The Birthplace Of American Business And Technology”!!!!!

Kingsville, Texas is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country and has been inhabited by various cultures for centuries. The area was first occupied by the Kenedy people, who were a nomadic group that migrated from Mexico overland in search of new land. The Kenedy built their homes on high ground overlooking the San Antonio River and hunted deer, rabbits, and other game animals for food. In 1836, Mexicanist General Santa Anna ordered all Native Americans in Texas to leave or be deported. Many of these individuals fled north to Kingsville, where they founded a small community known as Rancho de las Pulgas. By 1840, rancho de las Pulgas had grown into a large cattle operation that supplied both Mexico and Texas with livestock. In 1846, after Mexican independence was acknowledged by United States forces under Ulysses S. Grant, Kingsville passed to American control and became part of the newly formed Republic of Texas. The town experienced rapid growth during its brief period as an American Resident District; by 1850, it boasted a population of 1,500 residents. During the late 19th century and early 20th century, Kingsville experienced significant growth due to its position as an agricultural center servicing northern San Antonio County and southern Hudspeth County. A number of prominent figures have played key roles in this development including James Lubbock (who served as Senator from 1901-1902), Harry Huggins (presidential candidate in 1932), and Milton Herschel (founder of Houston Astros baseball team). In addition to its agricultural properties,Kingsville also produced tobacco products such as cigars and cigarettes until recently when smoking became outlawed in all public places throughout the state ofTexas

In 1948, Kingvillians voted to become an incorporated municipality within Cameron County. In recent decades, Kingsvilley has seen growth in both commercial and residential areas. The community is now home to a variety of businesses including several restaurants and stores as well as a number of housing units.
