The town also has a library which opened its doors on November 12th, 1974. In 2007-2008, Kyle participated in the TX Renaissance Festival which took place throughout nearby Austin along with other towns including Georgetown (Houston), Hillsboro (Dallas), Cedar Park ( Fort Worth), Montrose ( Houston) and more than 100 other communities across Texas
Kyle, Texas was founded in 1836 by colonists from Virginia. The town was named after General James Kyle who fought in the Mexican-American War. The towns of Kyle and Vernon were annexed to Kyle in 1907.
