The first Coast Guard gift was a watch. It was given to the La Marque Post Office on November 4, 1914 by Rear Admiral Elisha J. Cooke. The Watch Museum in La Marque displays a collection of watches from this time period. On December 1, 1916 the Coast Guard gifted their first plane to the town of Laredo when they purchased two surplus P-39s from the USAAF. This plane would serve as the primary means of transportation for patrol and rescues along the Texas coast until World War II. In 1941, the Coast Guard gifted their second plane to Laredo when they purchased four C-47s from Air France for use in search and rescue operations along Corpus Christi Bayou and inland waterways throughout Louisiana and Texas. These planes would continue to be used during World War II and into the post-war era as relief planes for flood victims in California and other parts of America. On May 10, 1951, Laredo gave birth to its third Coast Guard gift when it received two C-130J Globemasters from United Airlines for use as Search and Rescue aircraft within local coastal communities during hurricanes Harvey and Irma. This type of helicopter service became very important after Katrina struck Louisiana in 2005 which caused extensive damage both ashore and offshore. Since 1965, Laredo has been home to one of only three Coast Guard stations located outside of New Orleans (the others are at Corpus Christi Bayou & Galveston Island). The station provides environmental protection services including water sampling; beach Cleanups; man overboard response; law enforcement; firefighting; marine search & rescue; hurricane preparedness activities.; public safety communications;; harbor patrols;; smuggling activity.; research/development activities.; visitor services;; education programs.: In fiscal year 2019 alone, $2 million was invested by NOAA’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through grants that support shoreline restoration.,

La Marque, Texas is a small town in Smith County, Texas, United States. The population was 568 at the 2010 census. La Marque is located in the Eastern Plains region of the state. The community was founded by William H. Dahlgren and his wife, Emma A. Dahlgren, on December 15, 1881 as a small log cabin on the edge of a salt lick near present-day La Mesa. The Dahlgrens named their new settlement after French explorer and trader Louis Marguerite d'Argenson who had explored this area in 1795-96 while traveling with Captain James Cook. In 1902, La Marque incorporated as a town under the name of "Marrue". In 1908 it changed its name to "LaMarque" after J.P Dent & Sons began marketing gasoline there from an oil well they were drilling adjacent to the town square. In 1957 LaMarque consolidated with other towns along Interstate 10 east of Amarillo to form the newly created Smith County metropolitan area which included all but one of Texas's seventy counties including Nacogdoches and Lubbock; this change made LaMarque one of only two communities in Smith County (the other being Pampa) that did not already have an incorporated municipality or city status within their borders prior to incorporation into Smith County; both Pampa and La Mesa became cities once they joinedSmith County government effective January 1, 1958. On July 21, 1961 residents of neighboring Uvalde voted by referendum to adopt laissez faire zoning for their village which followed Spanish law allowing municipalities more latitude than pre-existing Anglo-American jurisdictions when it came to economic development decisions without prior approval from county supervisors; since laissez faire zoning allows unincorporated areas considerable leeway when it comes time to set up rules governing economic activity within their borders formal annexation requests have been rare despite Uvalde's position as the largest municipality within immediate proximity of LaMarche proper - making it difficult for outsiders wishing to establish an official presence in either village regardless of how much effort has been expended by locals in trying vainlyto block such overtures from arriving at what would likely be seen as hostile territory - rendering both villages effectively self-governing mini-cities with little or no interaction between them save for occasional events designed solely to celebrate local accomplishments rather than promote commerce or civic engagement On November 24,1988 citizens voting on incorporation into Park Cities Incorporation passed a referendum asking if Park Cities should become an international city similar unto Amsterdam ( subsequently becoming known as “Park Cities International” ) while still retaining its own municipal government including elections every four years; this vote resulted in Park Cities being chartered as a non profit 501(c)(3) educational foundation providing citizenship instruction programs worldwide through satellite transmissions primarily residing inside/outside I Corps military installations throughout Iraq and Afghanistan while also managing social services administered by private entities engaged therein - continuing same pattern established during late 1950s thru early 1960s when most functions associated with local government were handled outsourceably thru quasi governmental organizations variously designated “Social Services District” , “Central Welfare District” etc.; resulting entity remains effectively an autonomous municipality exercising complete jurisdiction over internal affairs

In 1959, Rear Admiral Harry Jorgensen presented a gift of 20 pistols to be used by members of the Coast Guard Reserve who had volunteered for duty in Vietnam. In 1978, Commodore Aloysius Hickey gifted four life boats and three torpedo boats to be used by the Coast Guards when he became Director-General for Emergency Services Programs with responsibility for all aspects related to ocean safety and security within NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). Today, there is much appreciation for donation items from citizens throughout America as well as international donors like France which has given over $1 million dollars since 2007 alone! Many people credit Commodore Hickey's generous donation cycle with helping saved many lives while also enhancing coastal communities across America!

The town of La Marque was founded in 1879 by Jameson and his family. The community grew quickly, and within a few years, the Jamesons had a church, school, and barn. In 1882, La Marque became the county seat of Gregg County. In 1907, La Marque was renamed Amarillo after Benjamin Fenton Amarillo Jr., who served as governor of Texas from 1901 to 1904. In 1911, Amarillo incorporated as a city. By 1920, La Marque had over 1,000 residents and an annual commerce budget of $20 million. In the 1930s and 1940s, LaMarque became one of the most important cotton production plants in Texas. From its inception until World War II it produced more than two million pounds of cotton per year. During that time period LaMarque also developed into an important commercial center with both retail and manufacturing businesses totaling over 100 businesses. LaMarque's cultural amenities include alibrary (the first in Texas), several museums including the Amarillo Museum Of Natural Sciences and World Folklore Center (one of only three museums in Texas open to the public), several sports arenas including Fair Park Stadium which is home to the Amarillo Athletics Association's major league baseball team (Amarillo has also been home to many NCAA Division I football games), six restaurants/bars/cafés/, ten golf courses (six within commuting distance of Amarillo proper; four located on scenic routes surrounding town; one located on Lake Texoma), three cinemas (one general release movie theater open to the public) and several music venues such as The Spot nightclub which played host to nationally known acts throughout much of their career; as well as numerous farmsteads housing local livestock such as pigs, cows, horses and chickens through out much of this area’s history).
The La Marque, Texas Railroad was a railroad that served the town of La Marque, Texas from 1865 to 1892. The railroad was started by James Fenton and ran from Pecos County in the east to the community of La Marque in the west. The La Marque-Pecos Railway was built parallel to the La Marque-Chambersburg Railway and together they formed a combined line that arrived at Chambersburg about two miles south of present-dayLaMarque on December 11, 1865. In 1876, ownership of both railways passed through James Fenton's family to his son John Fenton Jr., who reorganized them as the Callahan Railroad Company. In 1890, John Fenton died and his son George took over control of the company. The Callahan Railroad continued until it folded in 1912.
