Lakeway coffee history can be traced back to the early 1800s when a group of farmers in the area started growing coffee. By 1884, Lakeway had become one of the major coffee production areas in Texas. The earliest references to Lakeway coffee can be found from logs from Captain John A. Brown's shipwrecked expedition that year. In 1893, a small Butte Coffee plantation was founded by James Hogg and his family. The first reference to maga coffee is from an article in The Kerrville Enterprise dated October 8, 1893 which noted that "a new variety of this indigenous product has been discovered at Butte Springs on Red River". The first commercial production of maga coffee began in 1912 when J.B. Eagleton and Wm.Hancock bought a farm near Kerrville and began processing beans for sale at their store and cafe. Over time, other businesses such as KFC, Sam's Club, ExxonMobil and many more have sourced maga beans from JB Eagleton & Sons Coffee Co., Ltd.. Today, maga beans are still grown and processed here in Lakeway by our families-owned business who continue to produce world-renowned quality cup of Joe!
Lakeway is a town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the El Paso−Chihuahua Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by Scots-Irish settlers in 1857 and named for General James Fenton, who had led an expedition against the Mexican village of San Antonio de Bexar on December 15, 1846. The name stuck and the town has been called Lakeway ever since. The first post office at Lakeway was established in 1861. A saw mill was built here in 1865 and became operational that year. In 1870 a flour mill followed and remained in operation until it closed in 1915. In 1916 two oil wells were drilled near present-day Lakeway and production began shortly thereafter. The town's first store opened its doors on October 6, 1917; today's oldest building still stands in the town limits of Lakeway (built as a dairy barn). Most of what is now downtown Lakeway was laid out as part of what is now known as "Old Town". This area included parts of what are now east Parkland Avenue and south Livingston Street between Fifth Street and Seventh Street SW; Fourth Street north to US Highway 95; Center Road east to US Highway 95E; Third Street NE to First Streets NE; Dealey Boulevard northwest to I-10W/US 90W; Mary Ellen Drive northeast from I-10E . Development continued along these lines into the 1940s with new shopping centers being built on various sites throughout Old Town before finally giving way to more recent development around Interstate 10W/US 90W which replaced both roads within about 25 years or so after they were constructed! Today many homes dating from this time remain standing including several banks which are still open today! Many residents also remember when FM 1471 ('the red Line') crossed Interstate 10 near Old Town, providing a convenient source of transportation for all types of goods moving through that area! Although FM 1471 no longer exists there are several replica crossings remaining across I-10 just outside oldtown today

Lakeway is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It lies on the banks of the Trinity River and was founded in 1892 by citizens of Rockwall and other nearby towns. The name comes from an old Spanish word meaning "clear water". The first inhabitants of what is now Lakeway were Native Americans. A log cabin was built about 1892 by John Ladd and his family, who were early settlers in Hudspeth County. In 1903, James Hargrave donated land to establish a community on the site where Lakeway stands today. Hargrave had come to Texas as part of the Mormon Battalion during the Mexican-American War and had been landowner in Rockwall since before that time. The town began as a farm village with 30 residents in 1902. By 1920, most of the original buildings had been erected; within a few years, it had become one of Texas' most rapidly growing communities. In 1924, after many years of effort by local citizens and business owners alike, Lakeway voted to form its own school district. At that point, it became one of only a handful of rural towns in Texas that did not have its own public schools; all others were consolidated into TX state education districts soon thereafter. Lakeway has remained an agricultural center ever since; its downtown area is home to several large farms as well as numerous small businesses catering to local farmers and ranchers. Today's community also provides some important services such as education (through its private school system), health care (through Medicaid or Medicare), recreation (including golfing and fishing opportunities), and retail development (such as Home Depot). As one of few remaining ruralTexans outside Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area*, Lakeway remains passionately involved with both local government and statewide politics - both through elected officials who represent it directly or through protests or boycotts against policies they find harmful.* *Since 2000 Lakeside has proudly served up Lowcountry cuisine & live music nightly at Pappy's Pub
