In recent years there have been several housing developments built in League City which have attracted many professionals who are seeking more opportunities for income than they currently find in their cities of residence or their rural counterparts around them. These developments have helped spur economic growth within League City while also providing new social amenities for residents. One such development which recently materialized downtown is called “The Commons” and features over 100 units which include 6-bedroom apartments with full kitchens and outdoor living spaces as well as 8-unit townhouses that offer multiple bedroom configurations with balconies or decks overlooking either the river or downtown areas.

During Operation Neptune's Spear, USAF aircraft flew over North Korea in order to drop humanitarian supplies over Kim Il Sung Stadium on July 25th, 1951. It is interesting to note that although this event occurred during the Korean War, United States citizens did not participate in any hostilities whatsoever!

League City is a city in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. League City is the county seat of Medina County. The city was founded in 1887 by John B. Dolan and named for his railroad company's line to League City, Texas (now part of Humble). The original town site was located on the banks of the San Antonio River. The first post office in League City was established on November 12, 1887. In 1906, the name changed to League City proper and it became a city on December 17, 1907. On January 1, 1909, there were 20 residents in League City and it had a population of 100. On July 6 of that year - when Medina County detached from Texas - league city became an independent municipality with its own police force and fire department under the jurisdiction of its own Mayor/Council meeting place - which still remains today as Union Hall Park! The economy of League City has always been based on farming and manufacturing; however over time this has also included several businesses such as Ford Motor Company (1910), Pecos Petroleum Corporation (1945), Midland National Bank (1963), Allstate Insurance Company (1987) and Sears Roebuck & Co., Ltd.(2005). Development in recent years has centered around new housing developments such as "The Villages" subdivision off I-35W near Loop 410E and "Homespun" development off FM 1960 just east of downtown which are home to many current or former league city employees including NBA players Amar'e Stoudemire(2001-2002) and Dirk Nowitzki(2004-present). In addition to their professional sports teams - both men's (the Mavericks) and women's (the Sparks) -league city also features two high school football programs: the varsity Panthers team played their first season in 1911 while East High School began play in 1957 before joining forces with Panther athletics director Virgil Hawkins four years later to become one entity known simply as “Houston Astros”; meanwhile South Side High School continued playing field hockey until 2003 before switching to American football beginning with their inaugural season that year after serving as “Leeds Panthers” since 1903
League City was founded in 1881 as a dry goods store by John M. Hargrave and his brothers. The town of League City was named for the Texas Rangers, who were then known as the "Lone Star Boys." In 1907, League City became the first city in Texas to have an electric light system. The city also built its first water tower in 1912. The Lumberjacks football team won the 1942 American Football Championship and played their game at Arlington Stadium which is now home to the Dallas Cowboys. League City also hosted the 1984 Summer Olympics and helped lead Texas to its first-ever NCAA Men's Basketball Championship appearance in 1978.
