The Levelland Army Post Office was founded in 1912. The post office is currently located at 4205 E. Loop 820, Suite A. It served the town of Levelland until it closed its doors in 2000. Army gifts have been a part of the community since the days when soldiers were stationed here during World War I and II. In 1942, when the U.S.-Mexican War began, the town donated an automatic rifle to the local military unit which participated in combat against Mexico from 1941-1945. On Decatur Day 1918, General John J Pershing dedicated an airfield and barracks for Texas A&M University (TAMU) students at Lubbock Municipal Airport northeast of town on what is now FM 1523 (Levelland Parkway). TAMU students began studying at Lubbock Municipal Airport after World War I ended and continued through World War II as well. A gift from Colonel William Hinton in 1949 helped start renovations to Lubbock Municipal Airport that are still ongoing today including a new terminal building and runway expansion that has allowed for more than 20 years of passenger service using this facility by both TAMU students and commercial airlines alike! Today’s airport is home to twoipalways serving Levelland with PFFD providing air traffic control while general aviation users can access numerous airline resources available here including instrument procedures fly-overs/landings/departures etc., all without interference from any other facilities!

On November 4, 1917, the Levelland Texas Army National Guard was organized as a brigade with two divisions and three brigades. The first division was organized on December 1st, 1917 and the second division was organized on January 17th, 1918.

Levelland, Texas was founded by the Levelland family in 1879. The Levelland rancho was one of the first land grants in Texas. The community of Levelland grew up around this rancho and became a prominent agricultural town in central Texans. In 1909, the city of Levelland was established on the northeast corner of FM 951 and FM 620. In 1940, when World War II began, Levelland became a military base for the US Army Air Forces after it was purchased from Captain Harry Hite. It served as an airfield for bombers and fighters until 1945. After World War II, the military withdrew from Levelland and most of its residents moved away or left to join other Central Texas communities such as Richardson and Waco. The city of Levelland experienced rapid growth during the late 1960s through 1970s due to oil fracking operations that were conducted there by ExxonMobil. As more people moved into area surrounding FracarasTex (the Barnett Shale), development increased pressure on land resources that had been used for farming since pre-industrial times. By 2000, several malls had been built near Interstate 35W while housing developments continued to grow at rates much faster than natural growth rates could support; by 2010, over 60% of all new homes in Levelland were constructed within 1 mile of I-35W. A large portion of this housing is infill housing which means that developers build homes next to businesses or schools rather than directly on top of Native American burial sites or water supplies necessary for traditional subsistence hunting and gathering practices.
A major development project adjacent to I-35W known as "The Crossing" has seen extensive construction over recent years including multi-million dollar homesites along Buffalo Bayou between Loop 610N (US 281) and Manor Road NE. The Crossing will include two major shopping complexes with anchor stores existing within walking distance (See map at right)of each other as well as public transportation options available close at hand.Levelland is a town in Collin County, Texas, United States.
