Little Elm, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Hudspeth County. The population was 5,611 at the 2010 census. It is located in theDallas–Fort Worth metroplex on the banks of the Trinity River. The name "Little Elm" comes from a tree near town that was once used for fuel to power lights around town. The first settler in Little Elm was David Brown who arrived in 1836 and erected a log cabin on what is now Main Street. He named his land “Elm” after one of his trees near town which he used as fuel to power his lights around town. By 1840, David Brown had two more families living in Little Elm and began to build churches and other buildings on this location including First Baptist Church (1841), Methodist Episcopal Church (1842), Presbyterian Church (1844), and Baptist School(1845). In 1851, John Waddell settled here with his family also starting small businesses such as a millinery shop and blacksmithing shop before eventually moving to Dallasville in 1870 where he founded an insurance company later renamed Waddell Insurance Company Limited. In 1865, James Hennepin organized the Irving Oil Refinery east of downtown Dallas when crude oil was becoming available for export following a boom period during the American Civil War era due to new technology developments including blowout valves developed by Edwin Liddel Hartheimer from Philadelphia along with others working at various oil refineries across America Towards the end of World War I production increased significantly at Irving Oil resulting in some 42Stacken high-pressure pipelines being built across America reaching Houston Texan Cities However; during these years little or no development occurred east of downtown Dallas until 1924 when it became apparent that an area located between Old Red Oak Road north towards University Park Drive south would provide excellent access/arrival point for automobile traffic through I-35W connecting downtown Dallas with suburbanHouston while avoiding downtown traffic congestion caused by automobiles traveling single file on University Avenue South

Little Elm is a small, unincorporated community in Medina County, Texas. It was founded in 1879 by Methodist missionaries, and it is the oldest community in Medina County. The population of Little Elm was 557 at the 2010 census. The town was named for an Elm tree that stood near the original courthouse square. The first post office was established at Little Elm on October 15, 1879. The name change to Medina County on January 1, 1880. Little Elm became a business center during the early years of the 20th century thanks to its location on the railroad tracks between Dallas and Fort Worth. Businessmens from all over came to Little Elm for their businesses and social events during this time period. In 1920, Little Elm succeeded in getting its own school district - the first such effort in Medina County. As business continued to grow and more people moved into Little Elm, there were need for more social infrastructure like churches and schools as well as housing developments. In 2001, Little Elm celebrated its centennial with a series of festivities including a parade down Main Street through downtown; a cook-off competition at Jackson Park; an open-air market; an art show featuring local artists;a blues performance by Joe Bonamassa';and a fiesta night featuring live music from several local bands
In 1836, Little Elm was the site of a skirmish between Texas Rangers and Comanche Indians. The Indian attack left three Rangers dead, one of which was General Sam Houston. In 1845, Little Elm became a town when it was incorporated as part of Galveston County. It experienced rapid growth during the late 1800s due to its natural resources and commerce. By 1910,Little Elm had over 10,000 residents.During World War II, Little Elm played an important role in the Battle of San Antonio because its military installations were located near San Antonio's main intersection.
