After World War I ended, the cotton gin closed and the town quickly went through Decreases in population due to farming (the last crop being planted in 1928) although there were some scattered industry such as a power plant built in 1951 that produced electricity for local homes for about ten years until it shut down because of pollution problems; however this site has since been redeveloped into residential properties including one home called “The Prairie” currently sitting atop a large tract of land near Interstate 610 which provides easy access to downtownHouston while still providing privacy from neighboring homes Nacogdoches experienced its heyday during World War II when it became known as one of Toyota's primary production facilities for their military vehicles both within Japan and abroad In recent years there have been several efforts made to revive the town economy which include founding an art museum; creating new businesses around arts and culture; developing retail spaces within walking distance to shopping centers; developing parkland adjacent to downtown; along with various grants/loans available for different initiatives
