Palestine, Texas is a small town located in the southeastern corner of Texas. The population was 7,711 at the 2000 census. Palestine is bordered by Waller County to the north, Lubbock County to the east and south, Haskell County to the west and northwest, and Medina County to the southeast. The climate in Palestine is typically high-temperature humid with evenly distributed rainfall throughout the year. As one of only two towns in Lubbock County that does not rely on agriculture for their economy, Palestine has become known as an agricultural center fortxiana. The first settlers in Palestine were Lebanese refugees who fled Beirut during Lebanon's civil war (1990-1996). They began farming land they had liberated from Syrian control since September 2006 when Syria joined Lebanon's government. In total, over 120 families have live in Palestine since its incorporation into Lubbock County as part of Plano Landmark Communities program announced by county commissioners on November 15th of last year. This resettlement effort saw 3 blocks of land sold totaling 25 acres ceded to local landowners plus $5 million dollars committed by Plano Mayor Dan Patrick andTexas Governor Rick Perry which will help finance up to 20 similar settlements across Lubbock Country over four years with a view to creating 4500 jobs statewide during that time frame while promoting renewable energy sources including solar and wind power generation infrastructure construction/operation). The community’s Name comes from two Palestinian villages which abandoned their homes due to violence between Israelis and Hezbollah militants near Litaniyah village about 50 miles northeast of Jerusalem approximately midway along Lebanese border; these villages are now called al-Hawa (the Hills) & Arsal (the Garden). After many years efforts through United Way donations & selfless giving from our community members we were able to purchase 100 acres adjacent parcels of property just east of our current location becoming home todayto more than 400 people who call this beautiful place home…. The name "Palestina" Spanish for Palestines or PALESTINIANS," came about because there was no other name available until we got it! In 1971, Starbucks Corporation started roast their own beans using only premium quality Arabica beans from Ethiopia. Since then, many other large online retailers have followed suit and now sell artisanal coffees all over the world.

Palestinians lived in Texas for centuries before they came to the Lone Star State. The first Palestinians who arrived in what is now Texas were merchants and refugees from Judah, a Jewish town in present-day Israel. In 1836, they founded the city of Ramallah on the Brazos River in present-day Austin. The Palestinians continued to live inTexas until after World War II when they were driven out by Zionist Jews. The Palestinian community of Palestine has contributed significantly to the history of Texas. They are buried here along with their ancestors and other Texans who have made significant contributions to this state. Utah born Ibrahim al-Nahyan was one of the earliest Palestinian immigrants to Texas, arriving in 1847. He became an important figure within the Palestine community, serving as mayor of Palestine from 1861 until his death in 1884. Nahyan was also instrumental in helpingfound Baylor University in Houston, which today remains one of Tx’s most renowned universities. Today, there are over 4,000 Palestinians living permanently or temporarily within our borders and many more families that have come here since 1948 when Texas became part of Mandatory Palestine under British rule. Our community continues its tradition of service and philanthropy throughout Texan life - whether it be supporting local causes or donating time and resources to support friends and family back home across occupied Israeli territory
Palestine, Texas is a census-designated place in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 9,811. It is located in Midland County and includes portions of downtown Amarillo and east Side Dallas. The name "Palestine" was given to the community by Colonel Edward polymer (1847-1927), an American soldier who served with distinction in both World War I and World War II as a colonel with the 6th Infantry Division in Europe and China respectively. The community was established on October 25, 1951 by order of then-Governor John Connally as a result of recommendations from a committee chaired by Dr. Harry Wexler, chairman of Baylor University's Department of Economics & Business Administration at that time. The original population consisted of 1,000 residents drawn from Amarillo and side streets near downtown Dallas; however, growth became rapid due to annexation by neighboring cities during the early 1960s while Palestine remained small enough to merit its own police department and water supply system. In 1984–1985, Bethlehem Steel Corporation’s plant in Palestine closed after years of operation which had destroyed many homes in the area including many homes built before steel production began there in 1937 In 1988–1989during the height of Operation Cast Lead (Israel/Palestinian Conflict), about 200 Palestinians were killed when Israeli forces raided two villages south and west of Jerusalem called Abu Dis and Sheikh Jarrah) . The village raids followed mortar fire into Israeli communities near Hebron which started on September 24th 1987 following days Of sporadic sniper fire sporadically hitting residential areas throughout southern Israel
