The Marine Corps has been in Pearland, Texas since World War II. Since that time, the Marines have deployed to many places around the world. In 1992, they moved into their current location on Bullpen Drive in the Pearl Cities neighborhood. The marines are responsible for providing security and defense of our city and county. They also provide humanitarian assistance in times of need. In 2007, a new barracks was built within the Marine Barracks complex on Bullpen Drive. This facility is used by both regular Marines and Department of Defense Contractors who support operations within the Pearl City area. The facility has a range of capabilities such as an outdoor shooting range, exercise gymnasium, mess hall, rifle range and more. Every day since it’s opening, there are numerous events and activities taking place at the Marine Barracks complex including Warrior Games which celebrate Marines from throughout the United States; Law Enforcement Ops where law enforcement officers from all over participate; AQUA (aquatic-related events), a marine amphibious assault training event; Mardi Gras parade with floats made by local businesses; Fourth of July fireworks display.;etc.).
