Small batch coffee has been around for a while in Port Lavaca, Texas. The first small batch coffee shop was opened in 1976 by John and Karen Kriegel. Over the years, there have been several other small batch coffee shops opened in the town. One of the earliest small batch coffee shops wasjar Sons Coffee, which opened in 1976. It was located on South First Street near Belle Isle Boulevard. In 1984, another smallbatch coffee shop, Caffe Latte Italiano located on East Third Street, also became known for its high-quality espresso drinks. In 2007, AnothersmallbatchcoffeeshopopenedonWest SixthStreetinPortLavacaneartheTexas State Fairgrounds. This cafe served up unique and delicious cupcakes made from local wildflowers that were baked with premium grade beans and cream. Today there are several more small batch coffee shops open in Port Lavaca than ever before!

The company was acquired by Java Coffee Company in 1865 and production increased to include a large plantation near Batavia. In 1915, Java Coffee Company merged with two other Dutch brewing companies to form Benelux Coffee Corporation. The company continued production until its closure in 1957.

During World War II, Port Lavaca played an important role as a naval base and port of entry for troops coming into the war from Mexico and Central America. After the war ended, the town declined but has since seen a resurgence in recent years as a bedroom community for Austin.
