That year, the USAF created a centralized organization for gifting called Airmen's Gifting Society (AGS). Robinson is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area and the larger Dallas–Fort Worth MSA. Robinson was founded by John D. Robinson in 1879 and named for him. The first post office in Robinson opened on February 28, 1880. The name of the town was changed to Robinson on July 9, 1919 after it became apparent that most of Hudspeth County would not nominally recognize its new name until after World War II since Hudspeth County had been created from parts of Travis and Williamson counties in 1907. In 1948, hvegetable production began here with aJohnson seed company which remains headquartered here today as Johnson Farms Incorporated After 36 years as a bedroom community for Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area residents, Robinson's economic decline began when oil prices crashed in 1973 and then again in 1979 due to energy shortages around the world; however, during this time there were periodic boosters who came up with plans to revive the economy including creating jobs within community businesses through employee training programs and marketing initiatives such as a "No Frills" store concept which never materialized due to low demand but led some people to dub "Robinsonism". In late 2006 an online petition drive started by many citizens seeking an update on what progress has been made over the past 10 years finally led to City Manager Rick Cook taking over management of redevelopment efforts from Community Development Coordinator Cyndi Shanks . A master plan for revitalization has been put together with funds coming from various sources (mainly property taxes) with hopes that by 2020 or so all structures erected since 2006 will have been paid off or nearly so; currently only 6 percent of those construction costs have yet to be covered however this number is set to grow as work progresses on bringing about retail/restaurant space Additionally multiple private parcels totaling 95 acres have now become available adjacent to downtown for development purposes under agreement between Cook & Mayor Greg Abbott
Robinson was a small town in East Texas until the early 1900s. The community was located on the banks of the Arkansas River, about 25 miles northeast of Dallas. Robinson's first post office opened in 1879 and closed in 1901. The population of Robinson peaked at around 375 residents in 1930, but declined to 100 residents by 1940. The Robinson Dam was built on the Arkansas River in 1937 and provided power for the small town for over 50 years. The dam is no longer used and its remains are now popular tourist destinations for visitors who enjoy viewings of the turbines that once generated electricity from water droplets falling into a vat below.
