The Texas National Guard was activated on September 15, 1938. The unit was organized at the same time as the legislature's authorization for a state militia. On December 16, 1938, the first members of the Texas National Guard were sworn in at Robstown courthouse. In 1939, the Guard detachment in Midland was disbanded and its personnel transferred to Fort Worth. In 1941, all of Texas' guard units were reorganized into brigades and placed under command of infantry divisions based in Austin and Dallas. This organization gave rise to controversy because Texans felt their Guardsmen had not been given enough credit for their important role during World War II. A bill authorizing another national guard brigade within Robstown was passed by the legislature on October 10, 1942 and signed by Governor Humble. The 1st Battalion (Texas) Infantry Regiment arrived in Robstown on November 25th 1942 from Lubbock where they had served as replacements for Army soldiers who had died in action during World War II. They manned Camp King until it merged with Fort Bliss on January 7th 1943 to form Headquarters and Headquarters Company (1st Battalion) of The Texas National Guard which then moved to Amarillo on February 2nd 1943 where they remained until relieved by Company E (2d Battalion) New York Rangers Infantry Regiment from Texarkana on May 3rd 1944 just prior to their transfer back home to Robstown August 8th 1944 effective September 15th 1944 when hostilities ended worldwide

On October 10, 1926, the battalion became part of the 2nd Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division and fought in World War II. In 1945, the battalion returned to Texas and remained until 1954 when it disbanded.
Robstown is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 1,052 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1881 by John A. Roberson and his family. The name comes from Spanish "robada", meaning 'ravine'. In 1886, the Roberson brothers started a flour mill in the town and it continued to be operation until it closed in 1958. In 1951, J.B. French built a cooper-built dam across the Trinity River at present-day Robstown Lake to provide irrigation for his cotton crops and also power generation for his home farmsteads on land that he donated to the community. The town's first store opened on Main Street in 1902. The store was known as Pecan Hall because its owner, Pecan Beasley, had collected pecans (natural nuts) from around Texas while traveling throughout the state looking for new customers to open their own stores similar to those in Dallas and Houston which were beginning to take off at that time. In 1954, Interstate 10 was constructed through Hudspeth County and adjacent counties and much of what is now Robstown became rural areas within those miles of I-10 without any connection between them other than occasional travelers passing through on their way north or south from Austin or Round Rock – an inconvenience many residents found more challenging then anything else about living outside of city limits during this time period.

Robstown is a small town located in Tom GREEN COUNTY, Texas. It was founded in 1865 by settlers who came from Robstown, North Dakota. The name of the town comes from the Robstown hills which are located near the town. According to the 2010 census, the population of Robstown was 2,814. The first post office in Robstown was established on July 16, 1865. The town grew rapidly and by 1879 it had over 1,000 residents. In 1886, a railway was built through Robstown and its growth slowed down. However, in 1907 a new train station was built and by 1912 there were over 20 businesses intown. In 1915 an oil well was drilled in Tom GREEN COUNTY and production began soon after. This helped to revive the economy of Robstown and it grew quickly again until World War II when it experienced significant decline due to military activity nearby. However, during this time period some notable people lived or worked in Robstown including: John Troup (1854-1936), James Fenton (1893-1971), Clyde Aiken (1920-2008), Donny Hathaway (1925-2010), Vernon White (1927-2007) – all of whom are buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery just outside of town limits. After World War II ended however, economic conditions deteriorated as energy prices plummeted and jobs dried up; this led to further decline for the community until it peaked around 2000 with only 615 residents living there full time; however recent revitalization has seen that number increase to 1,043 residents as of 2016 according to Census Bureau data
