Robstown is a small town in Webb County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,604 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to set foot in Robstown was Spanish missionary Francisco de la Vega on July 12, 1692. A post office called Robstown was established in 1851, and remained in operation until it closed on December 5, 1907. In 1876, local ranchers formed the cattle drive Association to improve their herds and traffic through the San Antonio Missions National Monument. The association's president was Humble Cattleman J.J. Bowen who donated land for a town site and named it after himself - Bowen Robstown or "the beautiful place". In 1902-03, $541 worth of fencing was put up around the new town site from what is now eastbound US 183 to westbound US 183 as part of a general infrastructure improvement project funded by the Works Progress Administration (WPA). Robstown experienced its peak development during World War II with many residents coming out to work on military bases throughout Texas and nearby Mexico; however this period also saw some significant community growth including establishment of churches, a school system, an agricultural center and numerous businesses including three grocery stores and two banks before they all went out of business between 1945-50 due to competition from national retailers such as KMart and Safeway whose expansions into rural areas caused an overall decline in prices for food products which hit hardest during wartime rationing measures that took effect during 1944-45

Robstown is a small town in Will County, Texas, located on the banks of the Neches River. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston-the-Beltway region. The name "Robstown" originates from Spanish settlers who named it "Pueblo de Robstown". The first permanent settler in Robstown was Jacob Roberts who arrived on July 20, 1836. He and his family were the first white people to live in what is now Robstown. Roberts married Rachel Wilkinson and they had six children: two sons and four daughters. From Roberts' home came many of the early settlers in this area including John Bigham (1841-1900), James Hogg (1845-1913), Levi Coffin (1848-1925), Daniel Boone McGowan (1851-1926) and Homer Pyle (1859-1945). A post office called Robstown was established in 1868, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1908. In 1907, a bridge over the Neches River was built which connected Robstown with neighboring Uptown. This Bridge served as a important transportation artery for residents of both towns until it collapsed under its own weight on April 15, 1993; resulting in serious injuries to several passengers and crew members. At that time, only one lane of traffic crosses over the river each way due to safety concerns raised by local officials about potential collapses during heavy rains or floods years downriver. In response to this tragedy, Congress approved legislation authorizing $30 million for reconstruction across fourteen counties within Texas along I-10 corridor; including areas adjacent to those impacted by the bridge collapse. The new bridge has since been replaced by a flyover which allows unrestricted access from northbound I-10 east into downtown Houston without having to exit at FM 1960/US 290/Texas 249/ Interstate 10 west; providing convenience for commuters seeking employment or shopping opportunities near downtown Houston while still following US Highway 90
Robstown was founded in 1872 as a cattle town. It grew rapidly, becoming the largest cattle market in the Southwest. The town developed a strong local economy and spawned several businesses including a lumber yard, hardware store, and meatpacking plant. The population of Robstown peaked in the early 1920s at around 10,000 people. However, due to droughts and other factors, it declined rapidly over the next few decades. In the late 1960s, however, it began to grow again as a result of migration from nearby Austin and other cities. By 1990, Robstown had fallen behind Austin in terms of population but remained an important economic center for the region.
