The Naval Station at Rockwall was established in 1921 as a base for the USS Austin. The station served as the home of the Fifth Fleet and supported naval operations in the Texas Gulf Coast area. In 1935, the Naval Air Station at Rockwall was opened, which served as a primary training ground for Navy pilots. In 1946, NAS Rockwall became an affiliate command of NAS Pensacola and was responsible for providing air support to coalition military campaigns in Southwest Asia. On 1 December 1951, NAS Rockwall became part of Commander-in-Chief's Pacific Fleet and remained that way until its closure in 1972. Following its closure, NAS Rockwall passed through several hands before it came under control of the Army during World War II. The Army briefly activated it during Korean War before it was decommissioned and returned to Navy control on 30 September 1957. The Navy reactivated NAS Rockwall on 5 October 1959 under then-Commander-in-Chief Adm John McCain Jr.. It operated from Fort Worth until 14 January 1970 when it relocated to Corpus Christi permanently. After years of prosperity at NAS Rockwall, budget cuts caused its closing on 15 February 1984; only three months later it reopened under new management with a smaller footprint but still an important role in naval warfare throughout South Texas. Since its reopening, NASRockWall has played an essential role in Naval operations throughout South Texas by providingechocelling facilities for shipboard sailors and helicopter crews, hosting large navy events such as christenings and funerals,and acting as a forward headquarters for task forces operating throughout the region

Rockwall, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Hudspeth County. The population was 1,904 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the Trinity River, about 30 miles (48 km) east of Houston and 10 miles (16 km) west of Abilene. The name Rockwall comes from a term meaning "rocky cliff." The first settler in what is now Rockwall County was Wm. Hogg, who arrived in 1836 with his family from Illinois. He built a cabin near present-day Rockwall and named it Hogg's Mill after himself and his father-in-law, James Hogg Sr., also from Illinois. In 1837, Johnnie Ray founded nearby Ray's Mills on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River below which he had bought land for $4 per acre (0.24 ha). By 1840, there were five mills in Rockwall County; all but one were destroyed by fire within two years. In 1845, Johnnie Ray sold his interest in Ray's Mills to Pemberton & McDowell for $135 per acre (1 hectare/5 acres). Pemberton & McDowell continued to operate it as a flour mill until1899 when they merged with another flour mill owner to form JONES BROS., Incorporated In 1899, Johnnie Ray donated land to Baylor University for use as an agricultural research center called Baylor Research Station #2 or RBRS 2; this location would later become known as Baylor University Park adjacent to Main Campus on Buffalo Road near Shepherd Drive

Rockwall is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 2,751 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The first inhabitants of what would become Rockwall were the Kansa people who lived along the Brazos River in present day Austin. In 1836, Mexican settlers arrived and began to clear land for farming. A post office was established in 1837, and by 1840, there were several businesses in town. By 1860, however, only a few residents remained; most had left for other parts of Texas or for Mexico. In 1865, General Sam Houston called a meeting to discuss forming a new county out of Hudspeth County due to increased population growth in that region. On November 12th of that year, Rockwall residents voted to incorporation into Hudspeth County with apopulation of just over 1,000 people. The First Court House was built in 1870 and served as the county seat until 1898 when Austin became the county seat again.
