The Rosenberg National Guard was organized on July 1, 1924 as the Texas Army National Guard. It was redesignated as the Texas Army National Guard on October 1, 1941. The unit was activated for duty in World War II and served throughout the war including at Normandy, D-Day, and A-Day. The unit was discharged from service in 1945 and returned to civilian life. In 1951, the army reorganized the national guard into brigades which were then divided into battalions. The battalion system remained until 1959 when brigade structure was again changed to regimentation which lasted until 1978 when it reverted back to divisions.

Roosevelt Jr. (born 1868), Elliott Roosevelt (born 1870), and John F.(born 1872). Rosenberg grandchildren were active in politics throughout their lives as well. Eleanor Roosevelt served as an Assistant Secretary of State for Economic Affairs from 1933 until her death in 1945; her grandson Franklin D. Roosevelt II became President of the United States in 1944 after being elected Vice President under Harry Truman; John F./Elliott Roosevelt ran for president numerous times but never won any major office; and Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her bus seat on December 5th, 1955, which led to her famous speech before the Montgomery Bus Boycott protest against segregationists in Alabama
