The early years of the Rosenberg Rifle and Shotgun Club were filled with excitement and anticipation. On July 15, 1892, the club's first meeting was held in a small room at the old mill. The purpose of that first meeting was to organize the club and to buy rifles and shotguns. The following year, 1893, saw an addition to the club when two young men from Dallas became members. From then on, membership grew rapidly. In 1895, another new member was added when Isaac Beaumont joined the group after moving from Houston. By 1897, there were six members in attendance and it seemed as if things might not get too far behind schedule! In 1898, a local gunsmith named Wm. Averill donated a shotgun belonging to him to the club. At this point in time, Rosenberg had its own firearms store which acted as both clubhouse and shooting ground for members of the club. That same year also saw the arrival of Charles Fenton as one of our newest members - he had just moved from Fort Worth! Over time Fenton became an integral part of ourClub and helped lead us into our current era where we field many competitive events throughout Texas each year! All these milestones aside during those early years - what really made Rocketshooting history is how well we performed at state championships! Our success wasn't due simply to good shooting; it was due to our consistent effort over a period of many seasons against some very determined competition! We even won state championships back-to-back in 1902-03 (the only team ever to do so!) And then in 1904 we took home yet another championship - making us one of just five clubs nationwide that could claim such distinction! Needless to say, winning titles by such large margins meant a lot back then...and still means something quite special today!

Rosenberg, Texas is a small town located in Johnson County, Texas. The population was 557 at the 2010 census. Rosenberg is part of the Wichita Falls, TX-OK Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rosenberg was founded in 1873 by Elias Rosenberg and his wife Sarah. The first store in Rosenberg was opened by Mr. and Mrs. Rosenwald on Main Street. In 1875, Mr. Rosenberg built a log cabin near the present day intersection of Main and Elm Streets to house his family until he could build a more permanent home. In 1903, he donated land to the town for use as a school ground and library which became known as "The Rosenberg School". The town hall also served as both community center and courthouse until it burned down in 1984. Today, there are several businesses that anchor the downtown district including KFC (since 1980), Jamba Juice (2007), BP (2002), Home Depot (2006) and Michaels Department Store (1971). There are also several churches including First Baptist Church of Rosenberg where Pastor Donny McCoy lead worship services from 1977 until his death in 2018; Southern Baptist Churches Rutherford Chapel on Elm Drive; United Methodist Church of Wrightstown; Presbyterian Church of God in Christ - Second Avenue South; Lutheran Church of Central Kansas Centennial Park West; African American Pentecostal church Trinity United Methodist Parish - Antioch Boulevard North and James Blythe Elementary School across Elm from Seventh Heaven LutheranChurch on Elm Drive serving grades PK-6 with about 350 students who come from all over Wichita Falls area
