The city is located in the middle of Williamson County on the border of Austin and San Antonio counties. The first permanent settler in what would become Round Rock was James Bowie who arrived in 1827. Bowie built a log cabin on the banks of Buffalo Bayou and named it after himself. He soon realized that he had founded a new town, which he knew could not be called Bowie City because no one else had that name before him. So he changed it to Round Rock and began to build his own homes, churches and other infrastructure. By 1830, Round Rock had a courthouse, jail and school system and its own newspaper which was published monthly. In 1848 Hernando De Soto discovered Spanish land grant 2nd Rancho de Santa Anna near present-day Round Rock when he explored Central Texas for Spain during his search for an eastward route to California. When Mexico acquired this land from Spain in 1846 as part of their Mexican War Treaty with Great Britain – even though it was still part of Texas – they set about building Presidio San Antonio (later Fort Sam Houston) on what would eventually be known as Main Street in downtown RoundRock soon after gaining control over much of Central America from Spain through their treaty with Great Britain In order to gain access to this valuable real estate rich grazing ground for cattle ranching (and later mineral mining), their military presence became necessary once again as settlements developed along Buffalo Bayou (now Loop 410) opposite where Main Street now stands; these early settlements included Fredericksburg (1851), Mission Reach (1852), Alvin (1857),chini’s Ferry Landing(1858), Monterey Bend(1859), New Braunfels( 1861). In 1865 General Order No 1 prescribed that all communities within 3 miles of Ft Sam Houston must have government buildings within 10 years or face annexation by neighboring Austin or Mexico; this caused Alvin to secede from Austin due to frustration over having no say whatsoever in local governing decisions while also providing minimal security against Indian attacks emanating from central Mexico For many years there has been debate among historians regarding whether or not Alvin actually left Austin because he felt threatened by annexations or whether or not he genuinely objected to governance structures established byAustin prior to its incorporation into Travis County roundrocktexasonline com . Coffee became popularized around 1800 when it was introduced into Europe through British traders working out of Java and India. From then on, espresso (a type of coffee made with hot water) quickly became one of Europe's favorite drinks because it had a smooth texture and strong flavor without all the bitterness typically found in other coffees.
