The USS Sachse was a Landing Ship Dock (LHD) ship that served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. She was built at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation's Quincy, Illinois plant and commissioned on 15 October 1944. The LHD was designed as a floating dry dock for landing ships of the United States Navy. She operated in support of amphibious operations during World War II and played an important role in the Normandy Invasion. After the war she resumed normal peacetime duties and operated in the Gulf of Mexico until sold to Libya in 1951. In 1971 she was chartered by Egypt and renamed "Sahib." She arrived at Alexandria, Egypt, on 9 November 1971 and served as a training ship for Egyptian naval officers until withdrawn from service on 3 August 1973.
Sachse is a city in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,868 at the 2010 census. Sachse is part of the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by Germans on the right bank of the San Jacinto River in 1853 as "Sachsendorf". It was renamed Sachse after Friedrich Wilhelm Sachse, who had settled there in 1849. The first post office opened in 1854 and was called "Brodensee". In 1870, it became a town and was named after Gustavus Wirth, who had come from Hamburg to homestead here. In 1907, Sachse incorporated as a city and changed its name to Wichita Falls. It annexed the unincorporated community of Brodensee in 1912. A fire destroyed much of downtown Wichita Falls on November 12, 1974; however, thanks to donations from many people including business owners and civic leaders such as banker Harry Haldane and Mayor Gertrude Jahnke-Lippisch (the wife of then-Governor Rick Perry), reconstruction began immediately and finished more than three years later with the opening of Millennium Park on December 6th 1978. As Wichita Falls grew rapidly into an major Uptown commercial center during the late 20th century and into the 21st century through infill development along I-10/Freshman Drive (a historically black college campus) to northward until it reached Brazos Avenue near Loop 610 West - home to several large technology companies - much Progressivism that characterized this period found expression also through architecture which has resulted often stereotypical representations typical for Midwestern small towns during this time period: churches with low spindles or without them at all (Frazer Harrison designed buildings for American Telephone & Telegraph Company located just east of loop 610) while other buildings were high Gothic Revival or Renaissance Revival styles such as those at Baylor University's Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library acrossLoop 610 West from Millennium Park which are now known as Tower Place; one can only imagine what these buildings would have looked like if not for Progressivism taking hold throughout America during this time

Sachse is a small town in Dawson County, Texas, United States. It was founded by German immigrants in 1849. Sachse has a population of about 940 people and covers an area of just over one square mile (2 km²). The town is located on the banks of the Arkansas River. The first settlers to Sachse were Gottlieb and wife Johanna Kammerer who arrived in 1849. They were followed by their son Wilhelm Kammerer in 1853. In 1870, Johann Friedrich Schick moved from Wurttemberg, Germany to Achterhoek, Netherlands with his family and started a saddlery business there. He eventually bought out his father-in-law's interest and became owner/manager of the Achterhoek Saddlery company which operated until 1955. In 1898, Ludwig Bachmann imported a plow engine to Sachse from Zwickau, Germany for use in farming operations; this was the first tractor exported from that country into the United States. The Bachmann tractor dealership continued to operate until it closed its doors in 1978. In 1954, local citizens organized the "Sachse Lions Club" which presented its annual "Gala Dinner" at the local high school gymnasium featuring entertainment by local bands and dance groups as well as traditional German cuisine served by club members at an event that cost $5 per person or $10 per couple when combined with member tickets for other events held throughout the year at various venues including downtown Sachse and several park locations around town such as Checkerboard Park, Pinecrest Park and North Side Drive Golf Course where families could enjoy picnics while also taking advantage of playground facilities including an early childhood center open during summer months) A newSR Equipment plant was built adjacent to old SR Equipment plant on north side drive east of town limits in 1984 For many years now it has been known as "Eddie Bauer Machinery Company".
