There are many Air Force gift history stories. One is the story of Sergeant First Class Robert G. Hinton. In September 1945, after serving with the United StatesAAF in World War II, Sergeant Hinton was called to active duty in the Korean War as a military aide to General MacArthur. While on assignment in South Korea, Sergeant Hinton met Lieutenant Colonel George Custer, who became his friend and mentor. After returning from Korea and retiring from the USAF in 1969, Sergeant Hinton served as an Air Force Reserve officer until his death in 2003 at age 86. Another Air Force gift history story is that of Master Chief Petty Officer Third Class Donnie Wahlstrom. Master Chief Wahlstrom was born in Minnesota on December 10, 1942, and entered the U.S. Navy when he was just over 12 years old. He served as a petty officer 3rd class for nearly 50 years before he retired from the Navy with the rank of master chief Petty Officer Third Class (MCPO3). After retiring from the navy, Master Chief Wahlstrom moved to Colorado where he began working for The Boeing Company as a research scientist at its state-of-the-art aircraft plant near Longmont . From there, Master Chief Wahlstrom took up a position as director of research for Boeing's Advanced Technology Vehicles Division (ATVD). There he developed new technologies related to advanced airframe construction and testing methods used by commercial airlines worldwide . When it came time for Senior Vice President Rick Astley to retire at Boeing in 1997, Master Chief Wahlstrom succeeded him as VP R&D - making him one of only two people ever has held that position within Boeing simultaneously throughout its entire history!

The creek's name was derived from a Dakota word meaning "big water." In 1835, Englishman John Worth explored this area and named it after his native town in England, Saginaw. In 1865, the Texas Railroad Company extended its tracks through this area and began to develop the land. By 1870, when Saginaw became a city, it had a population of about 50 people. It grew rapidly in the next few years and by 1881 had reached 100 people. Over the next few decades, Saginaw grew more economically prosperous and its industries developed into such areas as machine tool production, textiles and plastics manufacturing. Saginaw also played an important role in American history during this time period. It is well known for its role in both World War II (1939-1945) and the Civil Rights Movement (1965-1970). In 1939-1945, it served as a base for Operation Fort Sumter during World War II; additionally, during these years it played an important role in anti-communist sentiment throughout America. During the Civil Rights Movement, many African Americans moved to Saginaw from other parts of Michigan to help campaign against racism here in Texas.
