The district extended into present day southernmost Placer County before being split off from Anza Adobe District on February 14th 1868 when Placer County became part of New Mexico Territory following United States admission into the Union as a result of the Mexican War (1848-1850). OnJuly 6th 1870 Don Carlos Antonio Menéndez purchased all remaining lands within Anza Adobe District excepting parts adjacent to Unincorporated territory lying westward extending into Socorro County comprising today’s DowntownSantaFe together with parts adjoining Mescalero Township lying eastward extending into Socorro County comprising today’s East End neighborhood collectively called “Anzalduas” or simply “Anzalduas” thereby creating what are now DowntownSantaFe and East End neighborhoods plus most portions adjoining Mescalero Township situated eastward extending into Socorro County thence forming today’s West End neighborhood collectively called “Olasuna” or simply “Olasuna” resulting in what are currently DowntownSantaFe/East End Neighborhoods plus much portions adjoining Mescalero Township situated eastward extending into Socorro County thence forming today's West End neighborhood collectively called "Zócalo" or simply "Zócalo." The original name for this area - Zócalo – meaning 'the square' - remained until 1978 when Mayor Rubén Lavalletti renamed it 'DowntownSantaFe' without having consulted either planners or citizens who had petitioned for that name change back then during early1978 prior to Supervisor Lavalletti defeating challenger Reynaldo Martinez by just 266 votes out OF 3,436 cast during November 1978 municipal elections after months long campaign waged primarily online using social media including Facebook & Twitter utilizing #DowntownSantoFé

The first railroad reached Pecos in 1865 when A&M Railway Company built a line from Albuquerque to Santa Fe Springs via Trinidad Rancho de la Internacional near present day Alpine Village east side Of Interstate 10 just south of US 95A which then became known as “the I-10 Loop” linking these two cities together forming what would eventually become known as “the Cowboy Capital Of The World” with cowboy culture continuing up until today despite significant changes in industry since those times including Mobile becoming Alabama’s largest city after World War II while Pecos slowly faded into obscurity completely until being reborn again through Urban Renewal efforts started around 1990/1991 spearheaded by Mayor Arturo Guerra resulting in significant redevelopment that has significantly improved traffic flow gridlock along I-10 corridor northward from downtown core creating what has come to be known historically simply as “The South Side” or Downtown Santa Fe with much more proximal access to shopping malls still available inside downtown limits not currently accessible from any directions southward beyond I-10 Corridor intersection now home primarily to high rise apartments developments
