The history of the coast guard in Schertz, Texas can be traced back to 1876. The first Coast Guard station was built in Schertz, and it operated for only a year. However, the need for a more permanent solution led to the construction of the current Coast Guard station in 1978. The station has served as the mainstay of the coast guard presence in Schertz for over 40 years. Today, the Coast Guard operates two stations within Schertz limits – one located on State Highway 281 and another on State Highway 246. Both stations provide 24/7 security services to residents and businesses within Schertz’s boundaries. Additionally, both stations offer law enforcement assistance should any issues arise outside of our jurisdiction. As part of its role as a guardian of our coastal communities, the Coast Guard also provides educational outreach opportunities to children throughout Schertz and surrounding areas. In addition, we partner with local businesses and organizations to support community events such as art festivals or car shows. We are proud to have been crucial in keeping our citizens safe during these times of worry and inconvenience.

The Schertz Coast Guard Station has a rich history dating back to 1911. The Schertz Coast Guard Station was founded on October 1, 1911 by the state of Texas as the first coast guard station in Texas. The original station was located on the banks of the Brazos River and served as a water patrol and customs checkpoint. In 1916, the Coast Guardstation relocated to its present location on FM 954 in Schertz. In 1951, the Coast Guard Station became an FAA air traffic control establishment and continued operation until 1996 when it was closed down due to budget cuts. Today, there are no active coast guard stations in Texas but the Schertz Coast Guard Station is still used for ceremonial purposes and is open to visitors for educational purposes.
Schertz, Texas is a small town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,636 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The Schertz post office was established on December 21, 1871. A store and hotel were built around this time. In 1875, the village had a school and a Methodist church. The community received its name from General James Fenton Schertz who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as Governor of Texas (1876-1881). The first store in Schertz was run by Mrs. J C Holmes and her daughter Ellen Hines; it became an agency for the Santa Fe Railway Company in 1886. A railroad depot was built in 1907 and named for General Schertz; it served until 1959 when it burned down. A new depot was built in 1962; it has been used since then as a storage area for local businesses. In 1900 Schertz had 1 business block with 98 dwellings; by 1920 there were only 7 residences left with no businesses remaining on that block alone! By 1930 there were only 4 businesses remaining on that block - all of which are now gone! In 1940 there were only 10 residents living within 1 mile of the post office; by 1990 this number had decreased to 3! As small towns go, Schertz did not experience much growth during the 20th century - but during the 21st century things have started to change! In 2001, Schertz welcomed its first Walmart Supercenter into town - eliminating most of the need for retail transactions within 1 mile of the post office itself! Today, much like other communities across America, Schertz is experiencing rapid growth thanks to burgeoning technology companies like Google Fiber (which owns land next to town) and Amazon Web Services (which operates a warehouse adjacent to town). With such high-tech activity happening close by – both good news for locals who must always be prepared for future business deals and bad news for those who can’t afford or don’t want to move closer – it’s no wonder so many people are choosing to call themselves “Scherzians” today!

Schertz, Texas is a small town located in Cameron County, Texas. The population was 3,827 at the 2010 census. Schertz is one of the few towns in America with a ZIP code that begins with 755 and not 653 like Austin or Dallas. The name Schertz comes from the German word 'Schereritz' meaning "a meadow on the bank of a river." The first settlers to Schertz were Germans who arrived in 1847. By 1870, there were 10 families living here. In 1881, Confederate General Braxton Bragg fought his last battle at the Battle Creek creek near present-day Schertz. After this victory over Union forces, many farmers began moving into this area and founded what would become Schertz. Over time, other immigrant groups have come to live in Schertz including Italians (1912), Koreans (1959), Japanese (1964), Chinese (1998), Poles (2001), Slovaks (2006) and Russians (2007). In 1915, during World War I, when it looked as if America might be dragged into war again due to Austria-Hungary's annexation of Serbia, President Woodrow Wilson sent American troops to help Austrian forces fight against Serbia's Ifni Rebellion. This event helped spur economic development in Schertz as many people came together to sell goods they could not produce back home due to prohibition laws at that time. Since then, much has changed for Schertz - from its slow growth until the late 1990s when it Suddenly exploded with development thanks largely to two major reasons: 1) an influx of new workers from outside of Texas because of NAFTA; and 2) being served by several interstate highways which made it easy for companies and shoppers to reach everything within easy driving distance without ever leaving town limits
The Schertz community was established in 1881 when German immigrants, including Michael Schertz, arrived in the area. The town was named after Brigadier General August Schertz, who fought in the Mexican-American War and then became a U.S. senator from Texas. In 1907, the population of Schertz had grown to over 1,500 residents and it incorporated as a city. In 1952, Schertz adopted its current name -Texas City - after becoming the 51st state in the Union.
