The Navy has a rich and varied history in Seagoville. The USS Constitution was the first American warship to enter Mexican waters, in 1846. The USS Texas, commanded by Commodore John Rodgers, fought off an attempt by Mexico to take San Antonio from the United States in 1848. As part of the American-Mexican War (1846-1848), Commodore Rodgers’ ship was torched by Mexican forces on July 10, 1846. In honor of Commodore Rodgers’ service and heroism during the war, a plaque dedicated to him is located at the foot of Arapaho Peak near Seagoville. During World War II, Seagoville played an important role as an airfield for Army Air Forces operations over Texas and adjacent Louisiana. In addition, it served as Headquarters for US Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz during his ill-fated invasion of Japan in 1941. After the war ended, Seagoville reverted back to its agricultural roots and saw limited industrial activity until the early 21st century when oil production began swellingSeagoville became known as “Navytown” when military bases were established here in the late 19th century because of their importance both militarily and economically pirate vessels were common off Texas coast throughout this time period which led to increased security measures being put into place around town

On January 4, 1899, the Constitution was decommissioned at Naval Base San Francisco and transferred to the Department of War on February 15, 1899. She was sold to J.P. Morgan & Co., New York City on March 12, 1899 for $2 million dollars. The ship was scrapped in 1920.
Seagoville, Texas is a small town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The first Seagoville settlers were Laura and John Seagoville who arrived in 1836. The present-day town was founded in 1881 by George Harnett and his brother-in-law, Hiram Berryman. It was named after General James Fenton Seagoville during the Mexican–American War. The post office opened in 1882 and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1916, the old schoolhouse was moved to its current location on Cemetery Road and became the first municipal building west of Dallas when it housed the police department until 1924 when it became fire headquarters. In 1934, Seagoville began hosting an annual rodeo which continues to this day as one of its main attractions for residents and visitors alike. Today, there are several businesses located within walking distance of each other including a convenience store (A&W), a bank (First National Bank), a hardware store (Plymouth Hardware), two restaurants (Jenny's Place and Donut shop), two banks ( Citizens National Bank & Trust Company and First Texan Bank), four churches (Church of Christ services take place at Reformed Episcopal Church on Main Street; Lutheran services take place at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church; Methodist services take place at First Baptist Church) as well as three schools: Northside Elementary School serving students from grades PreK-6th; Southside Middle School serving students from 7th through 12th grade; Westside High School serving students from 13th through 16th grade). There are also several small businesses that have been incorporated into larger companies such as Addison Glass Works Inc., Bryant Roofing Co., Honeywell International Inc., American Graphics Corporation among others. Today, Seagoville retains much of its historic characters such as Old Mrs Jocelyn who still resides within sight of her home on Cemetery Road while also enjoying some newish additions like Target which has replaced what used to be her grocery store back when she operated it alone. However even with all these changes there is something about the little community that makes you feel like you're right there with them - whether it's their friendly attitude towards newcomers or their love for rodeos which continue to be one of their most popular events both inside and outside the town hall where they hold ceremonies every year on Memorial Day weekendcomplete with food vendors being set up outside along with live music performances by local bands throughout summer months

The town grew rapidly and soon became a major trade center on the Gulf of Mexico. In 1849, the Republic of Texas was founded and Seagoville quickly became its capital. By 1910, Seagoville had shrunk to just over 1,000 residents and by 1920 it had all but disappeared from history altogether.
