Seagoville is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas, located in Medina County. The population was 539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and is home to Fort Worth's only shopping mall, Seagoville Mall. The first Europeans to visit what is now Seagoville were Spanish explorers who named it "San Sebastian" after their kingdom in Spain. They also discovered an abundant petroleum reserves on the site, which allowed them to build a refinery on the banks of the Trinity River in 1867. The town was founded by Augustus Everest Dodge as a cattle rancho (a rancho being Mexican land grant) called Hacienda de la Cruz Blanca or White Rancho de las Fresas or Cruz Blanca Rancho which he acquired from Antonio Valdez Tejada about 1876-77. In 1886, Dodge sold his interest in the town to John Neely Bryan for $1,000 cash and he renamed it Seagoville after his favorite horse race track located nearby atidden Palmer Park Racecourse (now known as Arlington Park). The first post office opened in 1907 and was known as Espejo; it changed its name to Seagoville in 1912 when Joliette Mormont became Postmaster General and ordered all post offices be given new names that honored generals or lady secretaries holding important governmental posts under President Woodrow Wilson's New Deal administration Order No. 1194 dated December 15, 1912 (Order No. 1115). As with other towns throughout America during this time period, Seagoville experienced high levels of growth due primarily to agricultural production following World War I when war production increased demand for food items such as hay, straw, cottonseed oil and soybeans; however since World War II there has been little significant economic activity outside of retail trade and construction withinSeagoville itself although some light manufacturing took place during various booms and busts associated with American industry over that time including: during Prohibition; Rust Belt revival during late 1970s/early 1980s; current housing prices & gentrification trends driven by Austin Economic Opportunity Act initiatives & city annexation movements throughout TX.; etc... Today's Seagoville community contains many descendants of those who made their homes here generations ago along withreferenced hereinbelow contemporary Main Street businesses that continue operation unchanged from when they first opened their doors - Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney Inc., Old Navy Stores Incorporated (& two additional anchor stores), Alice Cooper's Barbecue restaurant ('The smoker' still open daily!), Magnolia Bakery ('12th street', 'Bakery Alley') & dozens more!

In 1847, a group of wealthy Texans decided to move from Houston to what is now Seagoville in Texas. The town was founded on the banks of the Trinity River and quickly became a center for cotton farming and manufacturing. The town became an important stop on the Santa Fe Trail, and also served as a hub for trade between the United States and Mexico. In 1857, Seagoville was incorporated as a Village, and by 1865 it had become an incorporated city with its own government. The city’s economy shifted away from agriculture to manufacturing during the 20th century, but has since regained some footing thanks to its location within the Austin metropolitan area. Today, Seagoville is home to many businesses including several hospitals, educational institutions, and professional sports teams.
Texas was admitted to the United States on August 26, 1845. The original land grant for the territory was 1,000 acres. The state of Texas became a republic on February 2, 1846. On November 16, 1850, the US Supreme Court declared that Texas was not an Indian Territory and therefore could be annexed by the US.
