The United States Naval Institute (USNI) has a rich history of deploying gifts to the nations and people of the world. In 1938 she was renamed Yulia Petrovna Semenovna after Russian First Lady Natalina Petrovna Semenova who died during World War II while aboard her yacht Uritautanu on Lake Texcoco. In 1946 she became a military unit named Marina Militarnaya with headquarters at Petrograd Federal Shipyard No 7 where she remained until scrapped in 1967. The USS Shenandoah (CVN-74) was deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on December 20, 2001. The ship arrived at Naval Station Bahrain the next day and began preparations for its deployment. The Shenandoah departed Naval Station Bahrain on December 23rd with Carrier Strike Group 5 and arrived at sailors onboard USS Omaha (CVN-72) off Kuwait onDecember 25th. Joined by USS Nassau (AGI-10), USS Ponce (LPD-9) and USS San Antonio (CLP-8), this strike group conducted humanitarian assistance operations February 2nd – 8th helping families impacted by Hurricane Katrina. After conducting exercises in the Arabian Sea, the Shenandoah returned to Kuwait on January 3rd 2002. On January 26, 2003, the Shenandoah sailed into Baghdad for her first combat mission as part of Operation New Dawn - an effort to force Saddam Hussein's removal from power through military action. She disembarked troops near Tikrit on February 3 and escorted coalition forces throughout their offensive against Saddam Hussein's regime. On February 17th she transported veterans of Operation Neptune's Spear back home after they relieved US Marines who had been serving in Iraq since August 1991. On March 1st she sailed into Basra for a three week voyage transporting supplies to Kurdish fighters fighting against Saddam Hussein's regime in northern Iraq. In late May 2003, during Operation Anaconda - aimed at toppling Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein - the Shenandoah ferried artillery equipment and munitions across international waters to support Operations Hammer and Sickle. In early June she steamed into Kuwait port with Military Sealift Command ships loading ammunition for Joint Task Force North Africa before sailing back out to sea that same day carrying food supplies bound for Southern Iraq underOperation Southern Watchdog . During these missions she made multiple ports visits including Bushehr, Mosul, Kirkuk and Erbil She carried cargo until July when she returned home without having completed any combat missions..

Seguin, Texas is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 1,554 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tyler-based Metroplex region. The town was founded by George Seguin in 1881 and named after him. It was incorporated as a city in 1907 and repealed its incorporation status in 1921 because of lack of support from the local government. Sevrin became an unincorporated community after that date. The first school in Seguin opened in 1885 and served grades one through eight. A second school followed in 1895 and served grades nine through twelve; however, it closed due to low enrollment. A third school for grade thirteen opened on October 15, 1907 but it also closed due to low enrollment two years later. Seguin did not exist as a municipality until 1912 when it merged with neighboring Hidalgo County to form Hudspeth County Municipal District No. 2 (now Tyler Municipal District No. 2). In 1916, Seguin annexed the unincorporated community of Rocksprings which had been located within Hudspeth County since 1912 but had never been annexed into Seguin itself; Rocksprings consequently ceased to be an unincorporated community within Hudspeth County and became part of Seguin during the merger process. In 1940, Seguin established its own fire department which still exists today as municipally-owned district #3 (Tyler Municipal District No.) In 1984,Seaguin joined Metropolitan Austin Area Council (MACA) formed by the merging of six municipalities within Hudspeth County: Austin municipal district #1 (now Round Rock), Branchville(later Floresville), Cedar Park(later Midland), League City(later Mesquite), and Pecan Grove(later Whitney). MACA provided economic development assistance to its member municipalities while they awaited statehood within Texas so that they could join Texans United for Larger Government or Tucker’s Rebellion Coalition political action committee supporting then-Governor Ann Richards’ gubernatorial campaign against incumbent Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones). After statehood came about on November 3rd, 1987 under Governor Rick Perry’s leadership, all six border counties - including Seguiun - rejoined MACA effective December 1st with only Midland remaining outside of Austin proper limits
The town of Seguin was founded in 1836 by the brothers James and John Seguin. The first post office was established in 1837, and the town took its name from Seguin County, Texas. The Seguins were farmers who settled in what is now Seguin County after coming overland from Mexico. They built a log cabin on their farmstead and started a blacksmith shop to help with their farming and trading. In 1840, they acquired some land east of present-day Seguin which they used for lots and grazing cows. They also built a house on the property that still stands today. In 1851, they opened a store in what is now downtown Seguin and began selling goods to settlers in neighboring counties. In 1865, they purchased more land east of present-day Seguin and began growing cotton plantations there. By 1870, theSeGuins had twenty slaves working on their cotton plantations.
